Best Low/no Alcohol Beer?

With Christmas coming up with the added pressures of the social calendar, what do you think the best beer is if you are driving.

I hate Clausthaler but I tried Alcohol Free Becks at the weekend and I couldnt really tell the difference between the normal version and that one (apart from the after-effects).

Can anyone else recommend anything good? :)

Harvey's John Hop - about quarter strength, so I wouldn't recommend more than about six bottles of the stuff.

But it tastes of beer. Unlike most of the substitutes.

Personally, I switch to tonic water in these circumstances.

There is NO SUBSTITUTE , beer has alcohol in it, simple as, drink coke or something if you don't want Alcohol.

Don't spoil a good drink

Its a pretty grim choice if you're not drinking alcohol. I've had Kalibur in the past, but its fairly revolting. It doesn't help when you get ripped off by soft drink prices though. I went out for a meal on Saturday night, and stayed off the beer as I was driving. I was charged £2.50 for a glass of Coke.

What a f***ing con.

non alcoholic beers are rank full stop. in spain there is a low alcohol mahou (1% i think) and it really is not bad at all. dunno if it is available in the uk?

I hate drinking coke, and its really expensive.
I have found the non-alcoholic Becks to be of a suitable standard alternative.

Good shout, Lord B.

Harveys 'John Hop' for me too. It's the only bottled beer I know that comes out of the bottle flat - just like a pint of the draught real thing.

Harveys do another one, too, but I can't remember the name of it. Hang on I'll look it up...

It's called 'Bill Brewer' (low alcohol old, as opposed to John Hop which is L A Sussex pale ale).

One bottle of each isn't a bad mixture.
