best 80s soul/funk songs..

As I am building up my knowledge of most 80s music, these are two genres which I have slighty less wisdom on.

Can anyone recommend any classics?

It has a picture of an ape wearing sun glasses on the front and is one of the best CD's I own, it is a compilation and has some pretty bad assed funk tracks on it.

80's is funk lite though. I wouldn't bother, 'tis but a short step to that twat in the hat Jamiroquai.

For real dirrrty funk you need to go back to the 70's.

Gary Byrd & the GB Experience - The Crown. Also a classic
