Gee this is sooo boring, Bennett has said when Norwich come in a while back he said it did kind of turn his head, but now after having time to think about it that he is very happy and wants to stay at Brighton, he said especially that we have gone upto the Championship, no way will we sell Bennett, we want to build a successfull team and Norwich will need to get some proven players in premiership terms as a lot of the team they have never played this high standard before, so Bennett would be a chance for them, which would have been a worthwhile one in the championship but from league one to premiership is a big jump.

Congrats - that was the single longest sentence ever on NSC.

If it wasn't for that, this thread would have been really shit, so thanks!

I can see Bennett going if he has a good start to the season but anything under £1m is laughable, especially if it's from Norwich.
I would want to see some sort of sell on clause too before we even thought about accepting a bid for him.

Maybe its going to have to come down to having to formalise our position as a Norwich feeder club. Norwich scouts don't seem to scout individual players, they seem to scout managers. Then they just cherry-pick the players performing for that manager.

Correct. End of the day we have to accept the facts that as soon as any club bigger or higher than Brighton starts sniffing around players they will eventually go. Much as I like loyalty, it simply does not happen. Players are greedy in my opinion and money always comes first.

We need to treat players like they treat us in when other clubs start sniffing around. If they make noises about wanting to leave, we need to let them go. Once they have been poisoned by the thought of extra money they start losing interest.

As regards Bennett, now he has seen Murray go he is probably having thoughts about Norwich, like it or not. As far as I am concerned Bennett has done the job for us. Lets hope Norwich make a sensible offer, if they do, so we could get a decent replacement.

Pretty niaive to berate players for seeking to further themselves and babbling on about loyalty. It works both ways. The club cannot afford to show loyalty to players. If they are good enough you keep them if they are not you put them on the scrapheap. Bennett is on record as stating his head was turned in January. Had the club used your advice he would have been off and we would have struggled to get promotion. With regard to Murray, had the club judged him at the start of the season they would have negotiated a contract then rather than leave it until the end when Murray was in a far better bargaining position.

As for the suggestion Norwich are preparing a £750 bid, it is ludicrous. I take it the figure has been plucked from thin air by the journalist. They offered more in January when he was just a league one player. Now he is a championship player and has been voted by some as the best League one player of the year (only four four two but better than nothing) he is in the league one team of the year so his value has risen. Also, whilst Bennett said his head was turned back then he now seems to admit he did the right thing staying and is making no noises about wanting to go.

Never mind the pointless comment about your English. The substance of your point is spot on. There is no more indication that Bennett is off to Norwich (for a wild-guessed crap fee), than there was a week or 3 months ago. In other words idle gossip. We are NOT talking the equivalent of Bayern repeatedly moving in for say a Schalke04 player, and you just know that they are going to get their man, whatever the price.

(Young) Bennett may well give it a go with us for at least another year or two, see where our momentum is or isn't, and still have many seasons in the PL with us or another club.

Not really but the fact he has been with us for a couple of season's you would think people would know how to spell his name.

Using apostrophies and commas correctly has been necessary since the genesis of our language and although it doesn't bother me, you look like a total penis because you are trying to correct another person's spelling but totally f***ed it up yourself. All this because you are a pedant.
