No he won't. He'll just have to sign them twice as many of them, when they're 15.

Morientes, yes, but Torres, Alonso, Arbeloa are hardly 'journeymen'.

And its not 'better' - its much much worse. It just means there will be even less room in the top academies for the few local lads that might have previously stood a chance.

Joesemi, Nunez....et al.Not even premiership quality.

Considering that they released Guthrie, Barton and Nolan (to name a few) who are of a similar quality to these spainards it does appear rather nonsensical.

Benetez does have a habbit of making boobs in the transfer market and has allowed the young English talent he has signed from other teams to move on (Jack Hobbs & Paul Anderson etc etc)

Personally I hope he reviews his policy on the basis of this new criteria.

Shouldn't Benitez be more concerned with his inadequate squad e.g. players like Kuyt, Riera, Babel, Benayoun, Dossena, Lucas, N'gog, Kyriakos who would fail to hold down a place at the any other top Premiership club from the supposed six big clubs in the Premiership. Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, Tottenham, Villa and maybe even Everton.

rather the point of the exercise, shame he's missed it. Hopefully Uefa/Fifa will follow up soon with rules determining you cant sign foriegners underage. didnt realise its illegal to sign under 18s in many european counties, thats how our academies are full of them. so while Liverpool cant sign a 15yo player from Eastbourne (unless his family happen to move to scouseland), they can sign a 15yo from south of Spain.

Now, I don't profess to be an expert when it comes the the Premier League, but haven't most of those players mentioned been around for a while and they have consistently finished in the top four?

I am not overly fussed by the influx of foreign talents. I am under no illusions that we shall ever get to the Premier League, but the quality of British based player on sale to us is greater than it was, maybe.

f*** that. The whole system is rotten. Football should be dying on it's arse, but there are plenty of numpties wishing to contribute to the crooked system by paying £30+ a month for SKY sports.
