Abort, retry, fail
I read about that in the Times a while ago. Article here if you wish to read another take on it. Liverpool refused to insure him :nono:

"At the end of last season, he had the whole of June free and decided he wanted to see Sierra Leone. Because of the dangers in a country only starting to recover from more than a decade of civil war, Liverpool, his club at the time, advised him against going and refused to insure him; nevertheless, he went."

Craig Bellamy invests 650,000 to help tackle plight of war-torn country | Football - Times Online

When he was at Liverpool and fined for the golf-club incident with Riise.
He gave his club fine to Wrexham to fund loan signings that kept us in the league that season.*

He gets a bum rap - but he's a decent bloke.

*But we've gone down this year - booo!

West Ham striker Craig Bellamy allegedly attacked a charity worker while in Sierra Leone to promote his football foundation.

The Premiership player was in the war-torn African country’s capital, Freetown, to visit the academy he invested £650,000 in.

Mr Bellamy, 28, is said to have flown into a rage after losing money at a casino during an all-day drinking session and lashed out at the charity worker.

A witness said: 'He was playing roulette when something upset him.

'He jumped on a guy and wrestled him to the floor.

The guy was an Englishman in Sierra Leone to raise money for a charity that works with orphaned children.'

Mr Bellamy’s agent has denied the accusations.

The Craig Bellamy Foundation will soon start the construction of a football academy in Freetown.

The footballer signed a five-year contract with West Ham last year.

The father-of-three also plays for Wales at international level.

Craig Bellamy Assaults aid worker in Sierra Leone

Bellamy has been acused of assaulting an aid worker in Freetown...this is complete rubbish, I witnessed the whole affair which had little or nothing to do with him. I also spent a day watching him play football on a beach with double amputees, victims of genocide and people living without hope in a level of poverty that you cannot imagine. I live here in Freetown, and tell you he is doing more good with a desperate nation than you can imagine. Whatever his past, give this man a chance to make a difference and get off his back.

If those comments were coming from anyone else they would be getting SLATED as a DISGRACE.

Amputees and victims of genocide are hardly a laughing matter...

Bellamy's not the nicest man in the world, and I doubt he actually means anything by this other than racking up a nice little PR coup for himself.

Yes, the Sun, is known for its lies, but there's rarely smoke without a fire, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if their allegation was (in part, at least) true.
