Here is a suggestion, both clubs should take the TV money and go down the nearest bookies and stick the lot on FCUM to win the tie. If the odds were like saturday you will get at least 10-1 and it will pay for a lot more. I will be banging as much as I can afford on FCUM winning before the bookies realise we are going up there with the reserves

In my old, mad, drive anywhere to follow the Albion days, I'd probably have been up for this, but I ticked off Gigg Lane early on in my Albion following career, back in 1988. So I think I'll curl up with something hot to drink in front of ESPN. I'd have loved to see the atmosphere you get though. As for the money issue, go for everything you can get - you are not going to stay in business by not taking TV money on principle.

We have many detractors out there that will be saying we are going against what we believe in and all that garbage but never actually have the full story of why we accept the offer. I just want to put reasons out there first
I think you're getting a bit paranoid now. I can understand why some people had a go at you for shifting your original "3 o'clock Saturday" game with Rochale to a friday night given that one thing the founders of FCUM didn't like was 'traditional' kick-off days and times being shifted for TV purposes.

But Cup replays have always been traditionally mid-week games, and since the invention of floodlights they've been evening games as well. So there's no question of 'selling out' to TV. If you'd moved the replay to 3 o'clock on a Saturday just to suit ESPN then people could complain!

Anyway as others have said good luck. Our manager, players and a large proportion of fans don't give a shit about the Cup so come January I'm going to be in a small minority wishing we had a game and wishing we were a part of 3rd Round day. Just got to endure the humiliation of being beaten by a glorified Man U fan pub team (apologies) when we used to play the real Man U and then we can 'concentrate on the League'. Anyway it seems a bit churlish to win when you'd love a game against Portsmouth and our lot aren't interested.

Wednesday night is our usual midweek game night so I dont see the problem with making both clubs £37,000 extra for it. you could have come up here, got beat, and left with nothing, now if the worst happens for you then you get something out of it.

Should be a cracking return tie Tom, we have excellent travelling support so I would expect an audience from us of 800+ for the replay. What do you think your chances are of selling this one out?

dont know about it being a sell out because gigg lane holds 11000 but there is a good chance we could beat our biggest home attendance of 6023

This will be the first game I've missed this season, but it is simply not worth it when we cannot be arsed about the result.

First team for Colchester and Huddersfield and some points. Hope we really play the reserves and no one who will start at either of the league games. Give the subs a run out okay.

Am deffo going .... but for me it's only 50 miles away. Looking forward to it and have a lot of personal admiration for FCUM and the fans of theirs I have met locally
