Of course you can be a legend but not be the best in your team. If only the very best player in a team could be considered as a legend it would mean a team can only have one legend at any one time. For example, only Giggs or Scholes could be considered Man Utd legends as they played at the same time in the same team.

Fair enough, Best Charlton and Law being a prime example. Still not sure I'd put Becks down as a legend as he was too limited a footballer and I'm assuming we judge him on his footballing ability?

Can't blame Greaves for doing that, footballers were paid appallingly at that time, the World Cup winning squad got a bonus of just £1000 a man.

Beckham realised he needed England more than England needed him. He took every free kick and corner for England thus slowing the game down and giving defences time to re group and wait for David to steady himself for a pre-kick photo opportunity, this happened10-20 times a game. This paralysed England to the extent that no one else in the England team had the chance to take a free kick to give another option. He didn't even score that many goals anyway !

Interesting. We shall have to differ on this occasion.

Bobby Charlton, Bobby Moore.....players who could perform to their high standards in the later stages of World Cups against other world class players and teams, and not get sent off
