Just as it seemed pretty obvious that we needed a quality keeper last season, it appears crystal clear that we need a good tall striker to complete the jigsaw puzzle. So many crosses and no one tall enough (or good enough) to put the ball in the onion bag.

To blame Greer or anyone else for our dip in form is, in my opinion, ridiculous. I'm sure Poyet knows this; just got to persuade the chairman to sign a nice, fat cheque...

Murray would have made all the difference in the last couple of seasons. Backford isn't what we need and Cole would cost astronomical sums for this division.

We just need someone who will do two things (or at least threaten to) - hold the ball up for CMS or whoever to run on to - and pose a physical presence in the box. Other teams have them, why can't we? That's four home games where we have sat back and invited the opposition to fill in the gap in midfield, leaving just one man up to try to stop them. Then we invite them to shoot from distance. Our only two wins have come against very ordinary teams from the bottom of the table. In the other games it seems to have taken far too long for changes to be made, then we have fifteen minutes or so of panic attacking!

Emile Heskey would have been a great physical presence, shame we never got him.

Ishmael Miller :lolol:

Amazes me how he's playing at this level, average league one striker IMO.

Better record at this level than our current forwards. Messi missed a penalty against Chelsea, presumably not good enough

Urm sorry, has he?

7 goals is the most he's scored in a season...

Barnes got double that last year.

Mackail Smith got more than 7 last season and already this season he has 1 goal less than Millers best record already...

I think the striker we are looking for, Gus isn't good at. I personally think the person that might know exactly who we are looking for is Charlie Oatway.

Okay this may sound stupid, but the guy has more knowledge in these leagues than Poyet & Tanno combined. He adds that special something in the coaching staff and personally, I feel if Gus tells him "find me THAT striker"; he'll come back with a list before the January transfer window.

Fair enough, but wasn't that in the premier league with WBA? He held the ball up in the last 10 minutes better than our forwards did the entire game, even Bridcutt struggled against him. Movement wise he lost Greer to go through although he missed the chance. At the moment, the minute a cross goes into the box we are more than likely to lose possession.

Still, Miller was up against Bridcutt, the size difference in that especially when Bridcutt was playing centre back for the last 10.
