BBQ tips

For those getting out the BBQ for the first time this year, apparently a tip for cleaning it beforehand is to crunch up some kitchen foil and rub it over the grills.

I cannot believe this works.

As I'm not getting mine out today, can someone try it and report back?

I thought it was illegal for women to use BBQ's!

Yes, it works.

Also, I always line the base of the BBQ with the briquettes on top of it to make cleaning it afterwards much easier too. Wait until cool, wrap it all up in the pre-lined foil and bin it. Hey-presto, clean BBQ base.

Don't understand the "getting it out for the first time this year" part? Grilling happens 12 months of the year for me!!

Ribs tip - rub the rack with a smoky type spice rub a few hours before cooking and let come back to room temperature by getting them out of the fridge at least an hour before grilling. Put a couple of large handfuls of hickory wood chips in some foil which you perforate in a few places.
Once the smoke is well and truly going (i.e it chokes you when you lift the lid of the grill) cook the ribs slowly on a low heat. Towards the end of the cooking time baste liberally (repeat as necessary) with a good quality barbecue sauce.

Leave to rest before carving and enjoy with a couple of cold beers. HFD!

Wire wool is the answer. Oh, and don't forget the sardines.
