The superb victory by sussex made the national 10pm news on the BBC, with a lengthy report and interviews... so I watched the local news after expecting a longer report (after all it is local news), but no, the main sports news consisted of a decent report on the Pardew affair, and then an interview with John Madjeski... oh yes, she did mention that 'as you saw on the national news, Sussex won the county championships for the 1st time today',

and that was it... not even a picture.. wankers

Totally agreed.. they followed that by an long piece about some soap dodgers who had to jump out of a 1st floor window when their squat burst into flames....

Trisha is more newsworthy than that bollox

BBC South East - which covers Kent and part of East Sussex - were there and featured the celebrations in their 10.30pm bulletin - including an interview with a supporter from Canada and a couple of snatches of GOSBTS.

Why the hell didn't they use that report on BBC South?

Apart from me, has anyone else e-mailed Southern Counties Radio to complain that their website has been offering live audio commentary of ...er... the Surrey -v- Essex match?

............but they do represent the county, and we do still pay a licence fee in which part of the BBC's charter (or it was when I worked for them) is to provide items of local interest.
Maybe you dont care, but a lot of folks from Sussex DO !!

Meridian Tonight obviously decided that as they'd talked about Sussex for more than 30 seconds, they needed to restore the normal balance, so we had a 5 minute exclusive on how Milan Mandaric had been given the freedom of Portsmouth yesterday. Like that's either (a) an honour or (b) in any way desirable.

Local news for local people.

The trouble is, BBC South comes out of Southampton. As Lord Braknell says, South East offer the best coverage of Sussex, but for some reason, it's hard to pick up in Sussex itself. The way they've carved up the new regions means that Sussex is left on the periphery of both.

I'll get on to the regions and sort it out!

P.S, you can now get all the BBC regions on Sky.

you're right the Sussex football team doesn't get the sort of support it deserves.

Vitually the whole 30 minutes on South Today was taken up with the Sussex victory including 2 seperate live slots at Hove interviewing various people. What were you watching ? ???

Yeah, quit moaning and buy a video recorder !

With only 5 minutes in the 10:30 bulletin, they're hardly likely to duplicate a story that has just featured in the national bulletin !
