The issue here is his starting position was all wrong. With the ball in comfortable West Ham possession on their right (not in a shooting position) he should have been a couple of yards off his line in an aggressive position for a cross. If he did that, he probably just catches that cross. Or at a minimum punches it clear.

OR is beaten to the ball by the attacker because it is still an exceptional cross.
BUT he would certainly have a better chance of stopping the danger, than staying where he did.

I wonder whether the issue with Bart, are his failings, lack of confidence, or the coaching?

Whichever it is, he really isn't living up to his reputation at present.
