[h=3]Barnes double as Albion hit six[/h]5:15pm Saturday 20th April 2013 in Albion By Brian Owen
Ashley Barnes enjoyed a triumphant two-goal comeback as Albion turned on the style at The Amex today.
The striker was thrown straight into the starting line-up after completing his seven-game ban and scored the last two goals as the Seagulls thumped Blackpool 6-1.
It was an emphatic show of style – and strength in depth – from the home side.
They went ahead in only the ninth minute when fit-again Will Buckley capped a run down the right by cutting inside and curling a beauty inside the far top corner.
Matt Upson netted from close range and Andrea Orlandi added a sublime finish after combining with David, all in the first half.
Then David took the party to the North Stand with a deflected finish two minutes into the second period.
Dean Hammond headed into his own net to offer outclassed Blackpool some cheer.
There was concern for Albion when Tomasz Kuszczak left the action after a clash of heads with visiting sub Gary Taylor-Fletcher, who also went off.
But there was to be no stopping Gus Poyet’s men.
Barnes capped an impressive all-round performance by converting inviting crosses delivered by sub Kazenga LuaLua and Orlandi.
