The point about FC Barcelona is that it is owned and controlled by its members - all 144,892 of them.

Glad to hear the Catalans will still have no sponsors blemishing their shirts in La Liga (fair play in the friendlies though). Real Madrid tried to do the same for a couple of years, before succumbing once again to the corporate dollar and whoring their shirts out to Siemens.

Financially, Barca have needed one for quite sometime now. Their debt was abit out of control until Laporta took over and helped get the club back on track.

But after having recently had a TV rights offer put to them of 1,000 million euro over 7 years, i'm sure the money worries will soon be over

Anyone can become a member, but it will cost you roughly £100 a year to do so.

It seems they currently have a great deal on too. If you buy membership now, you get a ticket to the Gamper game against Bayern Munich thrown in. Which means you're almost getting a free years membership.
