Kind of rules them out then given the thread is regarding first album. I'm with you though, I've really tried with Kid A and Amnesiac, but can't like them and didn't even bother downloading In Rainbows even when it was free!

UB40 are a great shout. Signing Off is a classic.

I'd add the Pipettes. I love their first album, the second is just pisspoor. Gomez as well. They seem to be settling into mediocrity. Paul Weller seems to go from bad to worse.

Edit - the Beastie Boys can also go in the list.
