I would imagine Brighton Racecourse would not be given a licence for that type of concert given it's proximity to housing. The noise levels would be unacceptable.

Stanmer Park is probably a better alternative as that is where they hosted the old Carling music festivals.

We can/have looked into staging this sort of event before - licencing would be hard to obtain, but not impossible - perhaps a day-evening gig??

If this was to be at Withdean..the local residents would go apoplectic!!!

BTW you youngsters.....have a look round albion's support at times and look at the age distribution.

If you are going to get something supporters want like a festival or something you will need to get more bands that Peter and the Test Tube Babies FFS. Don't let Atilla take it over or all we will have is punk stuff.

There are plenty of bands around that play old stuff as well as new stuff.

Has anyone thought of involving Sourthern FM...we seem to have dumped them pretty unceremoniously and we need local buisinesses now more than ever

How about releasing a "Best of Sussex"* compliation CD?

I'm sure most of the acts mentioned here would donate a track a free, and I'm sure Skint could be persuaded to organise it.

* Don't make it Albion/football specific - would limit the target audience too much.

Dave you are missing the point, a line up like that would bring in large numbers who dont even give a toss about the Albion, just want to go to a good gig. And unfortunately it is the younger generations that go to these types of events!!!

Withdean is of course a nono. The Racecourse has held raves before so this would probably be ok. There are of course other venues.

Of course there are overheads but the profits of an event like this would be huge, especially if the acts do it for love.

Also, do the club not carry any favours with the Council re: Licensing?

Absolutely right. Albion supporters will do what they can to help the club, this is about non-Albion supporters helping the club.

It's a top idea; just don't include any acts with homophobic lyrics :lolol:

I'm in an up and coming band who are signed to a major label. My band if the timing is right ie that we're not on tour, would be happy to play.Could even pull a few strings in the industry who knows.

I reckon a series on NSC backed pub gigs and piss ups is as likely to raise money as anything . . . .I'd get our Blues band to play for free if I can . . . .

How about trying to use Preston Park as a venue, it gets at least 2 large events a summer, although this might not be alternative enough to please those at Brighton and Hove council.

Good call Uncle! Most welcome to use my back yard - HOORAH!
