Why not have a festival of sorts....loads of bands/DJs etc from Brighton.....surely they would give their services freely, and the council can give us somewhere for free(HA - I can dream)

£20 a ticket - say 10-15,000 bodies - happy days! :clap2:

The first football related Misic Festival?

:drink:

Shame Norm couldn't have got a tenner off everybody that was on the beach t'other Summer. Would have come to a nice round 2.5 million...

Exactly what I've been thinking. The Racecourse would be perfect would it not. Trotster works up there, she could help organise the event and between us I'm sure we know enough bands, promoters etc etc to run this thing.

Look who our sponsors are for crying out loud.

Depends who was playing though innit. Could be a go-er if we can get enough decent bands together??

Agree - you'd need some big names...

Fat Boy Slim
Keane
British Sea Power
Peter and the Test Tube Babies
Midfield General

All Sussex based or Sussex connected. Any others...?

Paul Mcartney wont do jack for us.

Off the top of my head youve got the making of a great dance gig:

Dave Clarke
FBS
Adam Freeland
Evil Nine
Midfield General
Lo Fidelity Allstars

sure their are plenty of others who would help Norm out.

We could have 2 arenas, one with guitar based bands. 20,000 is more than acheivable if the line up is good and the advertising is right @ £15 a ticket. Thats about £280000 after expenses.

Short term problem over!

everyones forgetting what comes with a gig:

Policing
Stewarding
Cost of Food/Drinks
Printing of tickets

its alot to organise and not simply "turn up in Stanmer park for a sing song round the fire" type thing.

So.. the dance arena is as Albion Dan says..

Dave Clarke
FBS
Adam Freeland
Evil Nine
Midfield General
Lo Fidelity Allstars

And the bands arena could be along the lines of..

The Ordinary Boys
Jack Cooper
Electric Soft Parade
80' Matchbox B-Line Disaster
British Sea Power

Also acts like Atilla and anyone he can rope in.

This really could be a plan you know....

Carl Cox has always lived in Sussex too hasnt he? I know he was in Horsham and made his name playing the Brighton scene in the early days.

Him, Dave Clarke, Adam Freeland and FBS.; You would struggle to find a better line up anywhere else!

With regard to the policeing stewrding etc, even if it costs £20kyoud still easily make over £200K

Of course it all depends on the acts but youd like to think Norm could pull in a favour or 6!

I imagine we would be very happy to host this sort of event - however, these sort of things take time - its not going to be a matter of picking a date in october and then getting the bands. There is a lot of red tape to go through with the licecening etc etc. There are also a lot of costs associated (as i belive have been mentioned before, i.e advertising, band fees, security, stewarding, licenceing applications, clean up operations, staff costs, ticketing, health and safety issues - That said, its an excellent idea and could raise much needed revenue for the club.

If insider or anyone connceted with the club/promotions wants to discuss this further, please pm for contact details.

not to mention a licence, which are hard as F**K to get in Brighton and need applying for months/years in advance !!

unless we have it smaller in a club, off course !!
