Ever had some stranger put his foot in your door, and refuse to put it even with encouragement like me slamming my foot against it. I refused to let him in, refused to talk to him, and ordered him to leave both my premises and my garden?

He did not give his name or say where he was from. I didn't like the look of him. He was large and I did not have anything big enough to hit him with.

I had just moved into a new home. An auspicious welcome.

brighton, actually
baillifs, or thieves?

afaik, true baillifs have ID ,and sometimes police escort if things get dodgy.. i take it the previous tenants left in a hurry...!

shame on you for opening the door to strangers without
checking their ID first- can never be to careful these days...

if you get another unanounced visit, best call the police ASAP-
DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR!!

Be careful, if the previous tenents left whilst owing a lot of unpaid bills then there is a chance that any bailiffs calling might think that you are them, if they are unaware that they have moved. If they call again dont open the door, just ask them who they are looking for. As long as you can prove who you are and how long you,ve been in the property they should take their search elsewhere.
Quite right to be cautious though, you don't know who they might really be.

I assume that they are "deluded" armed bandits after my money and I will get that electronic buzzer fitted up again. Thats the one that electrocutes unwelcome intruders.

Seriously, anybody who stands within striking distance of the door, I consider to be committing an act of an unwarranted aggression (could be a south Londoner though). They are also in danger of bits of porch falling on their bonce.

The previous tenants took the lightbulbs with them.
