I hope Im wrong but I think there was an unmarked police van on the A23 up Bolney Hill this morning, flashing faster than George Michael as people drove up the hill, it was facing down the hill getting you on the approach.

Now I'm all for road safety, but on a three lane motorway with traffic flowing as smoothly as Kylies derrier I see absolutely nothing wrong with doing 80 mph.

I reckon I've got a ticket, points and a fine on the way, and I'm f***ing livid, its such a dirty way for the scum to make money, if whacking 20% on my council tax wasnt enough this year to finance the gits.

rant over . . . . . sorry !

Agree with you totally. The old Bill are fvcking twats

I don't think that they are "fvcking twats" but do agree that driving 80 on a moterway isn't that fast.

They should try and make more of an effort getting drink drivers off the road instead! :)

Zef, if you get sent a ticket then ask them for a copy of the photograph. This way you have still responded within the 28 days allowed.

A friend of mine has, then received the photos. A year later they haven't bothered chasing him up for the fine. I reckon they are in such a bureaucratic disarray that if you don't pay the fine immediately by return then it seems to get lost in the system.

Not that I am advocating speeding or breaking the law (especially in town) but I do 80-85 myself on the A23 at that point.

I don't know anyone who stays at 70 on that stretch of road and the odd car that does causes a hold up as everyone else is going 80 odd.

All speed cameras on motorways should be banned! Unless they are in a particular black spot. Motorways are the safest roads in Britain!

Cameras should be mandatory outside and near schools though. They should also sit outside schools and fine Mums who park their 4x4 buses on jagged yellow lines because little Johnny can't walk/cycle 200yrds to school!

Also totally agree with the drunk driver bit. I've been driving for 10years and have never been asked to give a breath test or even stopped for that matter! Just because I'm not drunk doesn't mean that I shouldn't be stopped and checked from time to time.

Remember, it's not the punishment that stops crime, it's the fear of being caught. At the moment there seems to be little or no deterrent!

It's not rocket science, Evenings and Sunday afternoons the roads are full of piss heads!

And don't get me started on old men with hats!!!

and relax...

f***ing right.

Today i witnessed a woman stop her massive 4x4 in the MIDDLE of the road (she could have pulled over there was loads of room) and get out to check underneath her car. I was about to go round her because it seemed she could be a while when her kid opened the door and jumped into the road. The mother knew nothing of this as her head was under the car somewhere. f***ing idiot.

Also as i drove past the school on Coombe Road i noticed 4 cars, 4! parked on the zig zag lines dropping thier kids off. Do these people know that the zig zag lines are thier for THERE kids safety? FFS it makes me so angry.

thanks people, and I agree Lammy . . .outside schools, on high street shopping areas and residential areas, great, nail us all . . . .Ive seen the police thrashing up my road (residential) at approx 60mph because they have their lights flashing . . . .if they hit a kid they'd be dead meat, its one law for them and another for the rest of us.

Ive never been tested for DD in 16 years, and no I dont do it, I love driving, its not worth loosing my license

I got done for speeding (76 in a 50) on the A3 a few months back. Given that I have no previous, I thought 6 points and £400 + costs was a wee bit harsh. Especially considering the road was actually a 70mph zone only 300 yards before the speed camera that nabbed me.

At least I know how we pay for people like those twats on wife swap yesterday - but I'll save that for another thread.

Spot on BB. Considering the death toll has increased with regards to drink driving, the old bill should pull there finger out, and concerntrate on that rather than focusing on easy targets to increase their police budget.

After all, thats where all the fines go, back into the police. So surely they should have the resources to clamp down on drink drivers!!!

IMHO, they have no excuse!

In my computer
that camera went off last night as we were approaching from the opposite direction it was facing......funnily enough it was set off by two young blonde girls walking under it....

The other thing I'd like to see, is action taken against drivers going 30mph along a 60mph road! These people create massive tailbacks and a whole heap of frustrated drivers!

If I drove 30mph along a 60mph road in my driving test I'd fail.

I was behind such a 'driver' on my way from Lewes to Newhaven (via Bedingham). I went to overtake, so she decided to speed up. Now I don't have the most powerful car in the world, but I can easily get past someone doing 30-35mph. I got along side and another car was coming in the other direction. So I had to pull out of the manoeuvre by hitting the brakes and swinging back in behind her. She then slowed back down to 30-35mph.

When I got to the roundabout at Newhaven I noticed she had a car sticker on the back of her car saying "S.K.I.D" It stood for something along the lines of Scottish *blank* against Irresponsible Drivers! I almost had a fit!

and relax...

that camera gets set off more times than not by people waving sticks and cars travelling in the wrong direction.

I think the best preventitive measures taken recently are the flashing lights down the A24, even if you only slow a bit, it at least makes you think and concentrate as to what exactly the area/surroundings are and how fast your going.

Isn't it amazing how many people you see on the roads that you KNOW would not pass a driving test if they had to take one.

I was watching some programme the other week with Quentin Wilson about Britains worst drivers. They were f***ing awful, if Wilson hadn't been in the car with them they would have caused major accidents. One girl was so nervous that she would start crying at a junction and cause a huge tailback.

I want there to be an introduction of driving tests every ten years to get there idiots off the roads.
