No we're not.

On the face of it, we don't appear to need a CM or AMC at all. I wonder though if it's an opportunity signing. We think we can get him for a good price now so want to take that opportunity.
It's also not beyond the realms, but to be clear I think it's unlikely, that he's a "buy him, loan him, turn a quick profit on him next summer" player that we don't even see in the stripes

He reminds me a bit of Mousa Dembele in his playing style. I think we would be looking to use his a more advanced midfielder, rotated with Hinsh/Gomez/O'Riley. I like the look of him but then again I felt the same about Dahoud and that didn't work out. Hopefully he can adapt well to the Prem

If he's half as good as Mousa Dembele, we're in for a treat

I’m really intrigued and excited about this one as as I said earlier he’s a player I’ve always loved.
The tricky thing is working out where he fits in.
Here’s some things I can tell you from watching him lots:
He’s tall and slim.
He’s works extremely hard.
He’s incredibly mobile.
He’s a great ball carrier.
His short passing, flicks, touches in tight spaces are very good.
He’s a great presser.
He’s competitive without being by combative.
Silky dribbler with a Rutter like ability to beat men.

Honestly the person I’d compare him to most in our squad is Rutter. Rutter is more of a finisher/striker whereas he’s more of a roaming 8/10. I think he’s most likely to play either 8, 10 or an a more central version of 7. So Rutter, Gruda type role, or Ayari. It’s an odd one.
Love his age and experience. Will be very interesting to see how he features.

Edit: his best position would arguably be as a free 8 in a three man midfield, which might add weight to the 3 at the back thing.

I think we'd play him in the same position Morocco use him AND in the same formation:

Something like this.....

-----------------------Welbeck---------------------
Mitoma--------------Georginio------------Minteh
----------Ounhai-----------------Baleba----------
Estupiñán-----Webster---JPvH---------Veltman
----------------------Verbruggen------------------

Why did Marseille send him on loan and the Greek league a massive backwards step ?
We kept asking ourselves. He could easily have a role in MArseille this year

This is the position he played for us most of the time and it suits him .
This is one of the most recent goals he scored.

I don’t know if we would. He plays that position almost exclusively for Morocco but international football is a funny old beast. He’s definitely done better for clubs a little higher up the pitch- I’m not sure he likes the physicality of playing too deep.
He could conceivably end up anywhere between 6,7,8,10,11. All positions we feel absolutely stacked in. The answer is probably somewhere between your post and Joao Pedro leaving.
Edit: he’s playing middle right of a four behind the striker tonight which is where he seems at his best (to my eyes) so the riddle continues. I’m really excited, reckon he’s going to be a superb asset wherever he plays.

Think this is Fab upgrading on Ayari. A lot was put on Ayari's shoulders and i think Ounahi is an older version of the same player. Gomez will either go wing or further forward behind the striker I reckon. O' Riley seems to be the big loser...

No one mentioned Ayari at all in this thread.....

I think you could be right. Ayari has made enormous strides and is a very good player but does not have accolades such as 'one of the best players in the world cup' yet. It wouldn't surprise me to see him loaned out in the same way Buonanotte was, perhaps with a contract extension when he leaves.

We need a balance of potential and players in their prime in the squad.

That is exceptionally harsh on Yasin

Correct. Last season, his first full in the Prem, he was involved in 34 out of 38 games & showed great potential. Would be very harsh to now loan him out at the point this potential could be further realised. We'd have done a lot of hard work in developing a player just for another team to reap the rewards.

I have a theory (based on nothing at all) that we will cash in on Ayari this summer, as I don’t think his stock will ever be higher than it is now. Replace with this guy / natural replacements already in the squad and bank the PSR profit

Could well be right, maybe we are well aware of pending offers for Ayari
