Shame we can't have betting outlets at the ground then

There was in the beginning, each stand had its own betting booth up until 2 months prior to the opening game with spurs.
They were never opened, not sure why but was told it had something to do with rental for them

Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club to show Ayr Gold Cup live at half-time

Scotland’s showpiece Flat race on Saturday will be the first time a race has been shown live during half-time at a football league ground
Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club, in conjunction with the Football League’s title sponsor Sky Bet, will broadcast the £160,000 Ayr Gold Cup at half-time during their Sky Bet Championship clash against Blackpool tomorrow (Saturday).
The Ayr Gold Cup will be broadcast via Racing UK (Sky 432, Virgin Media 536, UPC 411 and Freeview 231) on the concourse screens and two big screens at the AMEX Stadium in a ground-breaking trial initiative.
The expected near-capacity 30,000 crowd will be able to bet with Sky Bet via Sky’s free Wi-Fi service, The Cloud. The bookmaker will offer all account holders a promotional code advertised on the day to avail a free £5 bet on the race.
Scotland’s most famous Flat race will be promoted on the BHAFC website and App, emails, big-screen and poster ads, and via the public address system.
Clive Cottrell, Marketing Director at Racing UK, said: “Racing UK is delighted to broadcast Scotland’s showpiece race at such a high-profile venue.

“Racing has worked hard to stage its showcase Saturday races at 3.50pm to enhance media coverage and engage football supporters at the half-time interval. Hopefully this trial will prove successful and catch the eye of other football clubs and so help broaden the appeal of the sport.”

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Head of Marketing, Tom Gorringe, said: “At Brighton & Hove Albion we are dedicated to providing the best possible match day experience and so we're delighted to be linking up with Racing UK and SkyBet on this innovative project.

“There is a natural synergy between football and racing with many fans holding an interest in both. This initiative brings top quality racing to British football for the first time, which I am sure will be extremely exciting for all of our fans at the Amex."

David Tweed, a member of the Sky Bet marketing team, added: “We’re delighted that BHAFC fans will be able to add a racing showpiece as part of their match-day experience this weekend. It is a great chance to enjoy a big-race amongst the buzz of a large live audience, and with a free bet to take advantage of, it will really add to a great occasion.”

Really?

I was there today and had one winner, losing £40 but had a great time in a United Kingdom!

One bit of course news from today; high draws were the order of the day, stand side horses won virtually all the sprints.
Anything drawn high had a distinct advantage. See no reason why this should change tomorrow. Gold Cup favourite is a very good horse but I believe badly drawn.

Except for one race where the 2nd was low drawn and only just beaten, the draw could be all change tomorrow as the fancied horses are drawn LOW

Might have to get up on 40 mins, bladder empty, queue for pie and pint of Harvey's, eat given burger and pint of Foster's then lose on Ayr Gold Cup.
Back to seat for 2nd half, avoiding all noise from Reynolds.

Sounds a plan.

Half-time horseracing trial at Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club hailed a success

Horseracing broke new ground at Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club on Saturday, when the

£160,000 Ayr Gold Cup was shown at half-time during the Club’s Sky Bet Championship clash with

Blackpool – a trial which was hailed a resounding success.

In conjunction with the Football League’s title sponsor, Sky Bet, Scotland’s most famous Flat race

was broadcast by Racing UK (Sky 432, Virgin Media 536, UPC 411 and Freeview 231) on the

concourse screens and two big screens at the American Express Community Stadium.

It was the first time horseracing had been shown live at half-time at a Football League match.

Clive Cottrell, Marketing Director at Racing UK, said:

“Supporters enjoyed a pint and a pie while gathered around

the screens on the concourses, and the racing also looked

fantastic as a spectacle on the big screen. The hope is that

other clubs will sit up and take notice and this half-time

entertainment will be rolled out across other stadiums.”

The 25,000 crowd could bet on the race through Sky Bet via

Sky’s free WiFi service, The Cloud, which reported a fivefold

increase on its average click-through rate, via the WiFi landing page advert. The bookmaker offered

all account holders a promotional code advertised on the day to avail a free £5 bet.

David Tweed, from Sky Bet, added:

“We had hundreds of Brighton & Hove Albion fans taking up

our free bet offer, and many others watching the action unfold

– so together with our partners we’ve definitely added

something extra to the match-day experience. We’re already

looking forward to building on this offering.”

Roger Matthews, Commercial Director at The Cloud, added:

“Our vision when we built the WiFi network for BHAFC was to

enable fans to be connected throughout the stadium and this

is a great example of how a good WiFi service can increase

fan engagement and entertainment within the grounds.”

Tom Gorringe, Head of Marketing at Brighton & Hove Albion, said:

“The fans seemed to enjoy the race and we’ve had some excellent feedback. We look forward to

working further with Racing UK, Sky Bet and The Cloud in promoting this half-time innovation.”

The next half-time horse race at BHAFC will be confirmed shortly.
