Agree with this. Do we really deserve to qualify for Europe this season? Injuries haven't helped, but it's difficult to argue we are more than a mid-table side. Newcastle were the superior team today - a win would definitely have flattered us.
League table doesn’t lie - if we qualify in the end, we deserved to. If not, so be it

You’re very well informed for someone who’s not been going as long. You’re right of course, we never played young players back then. Everyone had 5 years national service and 5 years cleaning boots before they were allowed near a football. Anyway, I’m looking up not down so I’d argue the opposite to your point: that we’re aiming to be more than merely to avoid relegation each season. If so, maybe likes of him are too premature to be deserving of firing us into Europe or a cup final?
"we're aiming to be more than merely to avoid relegation each season"

Not according to the Chairman's Statement in the Club Accounts released at the beginning of March where our primary objective is to retain membership of the EPL.

This is what happens when Supporter expectations are out of sync with the Board's expectations! Primary objectives and visions are two very different things.

Couldn't see it in the ground and seemed harsh to be getting pen for a free kick tanked from 6 yards away but It seems he made a blunder. Just an instinct kicking in I guess.

Ok money is the main driver and like it or not, TB's pockets aren't deep enough - however with his business nous, he's got us punching above our weight in terms of revenue, wage bill and other factors. The model is no secret - it's got us to where we are, the only way to move forward is for the model to succeed even more or investment that TB doesn't have.......

In that case, whoppieeeee! I’ll get back in my box and feverishly await our next outing expecting us to finish below Palace before we wrap up for the season. It’s been another outstanding year, and hopefully we remain on course never to win anything for 125 years next season also.

I don’t understand your point. Everyone knows this. We also know in football it’s not always like this. Plenty of smaller clubs or equal in size have won things and/or finished better in the league. Nope, aim for half full not empty. Part of our club mentality problem filters from the fans I believe. Need to change the record and stop being so ready with the excuses year in year out.

Point is enjoy the moment, we are doing incredibly well within our constraints compared to other "bigger" teams. Plenty of smaller clubs have indeed one things and also some bigger ones, but where are they now? Hence the goal of becoming an established EPL team, not a spaff a load of cash to win something club and then disappear into obscurity.....

But I’m not enjoying the moment, how can we? It’s so bloody frustrating! :)

Actually, if we spaffed a load of cash, won a trophy, and disappeared into L1 or the Champ for a while I’d take that at my time of life. Jesus, just once in my lifetime I said. England or Albion. So far neither, and time running out. It’s too much to ask really isn’t it? We are perennial losers. Just.Ain’t.Gonna.Happen :(

David Gilmour's armpit
Also contributing…
Gomez, who is fast becoming Gormless
Bart who can’t even go the right way at penalties never mind save one
ORiley, more O’Dearey
The Ref, who was atrocious today
Toon, who are a travelling theatrical team more than a football club

But we are also just overhyped really. Our team is bang average for this division and that is why we’re finishing mid table. Which is still overachieving if we’re considered about things.

It really doesn’t help that people mention Europe. It should be banned from any conversation until the final whistle of the final game of every season. Even now the media is still (STILL!) saying there’s all to play for with 3 games to go
I hate to burst your balloon, but (and I'll say it quietly, as I don't want to alarm you).....it still is all to play for.

If you couldn’t find anything to enjoy this season, we’re probably not the team for you! Plenty of great goals and memorable wins for me whether or not we qualify for Europe.

So, like most clubs in this country (and the world)?

Thanks for telling me who I can support or not, but the point he made was in the moment. Which means right now. This afternoon. And frustration aptly sums it up for me. Which isn’t enjoyable. Weird anyone would find it so. Either that or they don’t understand the meaning of the word, and should use something else.
