Two brave heroes went to Hartlepool away last season. On arrival our apparent rendition of smalltown boy and an erasure medley alerted our first friendly local that we're obviously from Brighton. I'm not sure how many pubs they have there but it took a long time for said local (at 11.30 and just 2 'mobbed up') to be pointed toward inn. Our saviour apart from a great acapella was Sunderland Newcastle on the telly early kick off. One pub had Watch Sunderland v C...ts today on a board outside. Being Brighton they couldn't give a toss. Any thoughts about a place where you're at home and the bigger teams matter more. Sorry long message and Brixton is standing tall.

Let me have a go at this...

My friend and I went to Hartlepool on the day we were to play them. It was quite clear we were not from around the area. It took a while but eventually a chap from the area was able to point us to a good pub. We were terrified that, as we were Brighton fans and their rivals for the day we might face a little bother, but fortunately the early kick off was Sunderland v Newcastle, so the local fans were more interested in watching the game than starting any trouble with me and my friend.

Have you ever experienced a situation where you were at the home of one of our rival teams, but people were more interested in the 'bigger' teams on TV, so didn't care about your presence?

Thank you for the translation into a recognisable language. Not sure it was worth the effort, but thanks anyway.

Acker79. Thank you for the response. You wrote with more clarity than the initial post. If I dare a third post I'll keep it shorter without fluff. Colchester if Ipswich play Norwich, Cheltenham if Bristol play each other, Scunthorpe v Rotherham. Even Tranmere. Just strange to go to a town that didn't seem that bothered.

Worth a rep point for translating bollocks to plain English.
To answer the original question, the answer is no. I have been to Selhurst a few times, Fratton park a few times, The Dell, and once to St Mary's. Every time there has been pockets of trouble by the loonies (on both sides) and the atmosphere has been quite intimidating.
