And the worst away attendance was Barnsley at Palace.

No surprise really though.

really interesting reading thanks. We had the highest away following at both Southampton & West Ham (and probably Liverpool too) which begs the question....................

Let's not let the opportunity to have a little snigger at Palace pass us by :lolol:

yeah but to be fair palace wern't that far behind us considering they had a shit season when they were basically playing for sod all and we had a cracking start-potential of going up until the last few games???

The nigels still managed an average away attendance of over 1,300 though which is pretty good going. Not as good as us though considering we've been 'in their shadow for 30 years'.

Yeah some great local games that mean many available tickets, leicester had 6k at cov aswell i believe which is a massive boost to away figures.
Yeah I thought about it after and had forgotten how close the 2 are so it makes sense they brought so many.

Leeds took 5700 to Barnsley?

Leeds fan friend of mine reckons that Championship is hard for them due to the number of local derbies they have and all the local clubs who raise their game against Leeds. vast increase in away attendances for Leeds as a result. They also have a lot of season ticket holders so should be up there.

Considering Southampton and us probably have to travel a lot, last season's figure were impressive.

Next year might be different though - a lot of clubs further away up north replacing closer away trips. Closer fixtures Southampton, West Ham, Reading, Coventry, Portsmouth, all gone replaced with Bolton, Blackburn, Sheffield Weds, Huddersfield and not too bad but still a distance Wolves. On the positive side, a longer trip to Doncaster replaced by Charlton.

Palace's away attendance at Pompey is missing (probably for financial reasons...) but that would have bumped their total and average up a fair amount

We were the fourth most popular away trip. It will be interesting to see how that holds up in the second season with the new-ground novelty worn off. I guess the bigger clubs will get a slightly bigger allocation though due to the expansion.

Its also interesting that Peterborough were the second most popular away ground to visit. I've always loved going there and I suspect the old covered terrace behind the goal made a favourite away day for many (and the reasonable prospect of getting a result!) I suspect they'll suffer this year from taking away the terrace.
