I think we could have one the worlds best defence in Ferdinand, Campbell, Cole and I hate to say it, Neville if they are all fit. With that alone we MAY start to attack more!!

All the while Eriksson is in charge, the best we can hope for is another not-so-glorious failure as soon as we come up against someone with a bit of quality.

We'll qualify for the tournament, probably get through the group by whipping a couple of minnows, but as soon as we meet someone like Italy, Germany, Spain or one of the big South American teams, it'll be the same old story. At best we'll scrape a draw against them and go out on pens, or we'll surrender meekly because we'll be terrified of crossing the halfway line.

Quarter Finals again I reckon.

Probably true, it's what usually happens. Quarter finals or semi finals, Ericson, Hoddle, Venables, Robson, Greenwood, changing the manager won't alter it - unless we get someone like Taylor or Keegan in which case even qualification can't be taken for granted.

If we win it'll be - "Yes, we're the greatest!". If we lose it will be "We've got players who are as good as anyone else, we should win, sack the manager." Heard it all before, seen it all before.
