Unfortunately, you’ve always made good postings from time to time (if a little and more thatcher than foot) and have been entertaining when you’re not making sense

We need diverse opinions and hopefully reality and realism will be somewhere in the middle.

exactly my problem with the jailing of Hanson - my views may differ from hers but simply because she attracted attention with her initial speech with those extreme comments and arguments - every detail of her life came under investigation - to be finally bought down by a simply error of declaring donations... the hit squad swung in to action...

Theres nothing rogueish in my posts, polite and to the point.

Do you remember the NF promoting "White workers cooperatives" in the early 80's.

The real problem with her prosecution was the it was members of the opposition who funded the case against her. In real terms, it would basically represent a cabinet minister like Gordon Brown paying a private detective to dig up dirt on Charles Kennedy. Her views may be abhorrent, but the Ozzies f***ed this up

The bottom line with racism is IMHO, when you DISADVANTAGE or DISCRIMINATE against someone due to their race or religion or beliefs.

Positive Discrimination only breeds racism, but the problem is that the angst on this is directed at the ones receiving the benefits, rather than those handing them out. People of all casts, credes religions and ethnic groups can be poor, disadvantaged and ghetoised, but helping those of a specific group who have these issues is wrong, it should be applied to all or none.

That is how the BNP(scum) get support in Burnley, Oldham etc and this woman in Oz as well. A section of the under privilaged gets help due to their ethnic background and the others around see this as unfair (quite rightly) but the BNP etc, direct their anger at the minority recieving the help, and not the IDIOTS handing it out disproportionately....

Rant over

It wasn't the members of the opposition, it was members of the government, specifically the employment minister. I suspect the Liberals didn't want some loudmouth racist sounding off about Asian immigrants - that's John Howard's job.

the laughable thing is that Australia is one of the least densely populated places on earth. If you don't like someone, there are millions upon millions of miles of completely empty space to go and sit in, but people like Pauline Hanson would rather announce that the country can't afford to allow any more immigrants in.

Go figure.

I would've liked to have seen the bitch locked up forever. Ironic that the semi-fascist takes advantage of the democractic appeal processes that she criticises so much to get herself out of jail.

Quite right, she deserved at least three years just for being Pauline Hanson.

The interesting thing about Australian's that I coudn't get to grips with whe living there is that so many will complian about politics and then, when given an opportunity to change things they won't. Some will complain endlessly about not being a republic, yet when given a democratic vote on it they voted to stay ruled by the Queen 12000 miles away. Having a Labor state govenment and a Liberal federal government seems pretty much the norm.

And then there's Hanson. Nearly every Aussie I spoke to hated her yet as soon as she was banged up it was suddenly "poor Pauline's not being given a fair go" after which it took a judge about thirty seconds to release her. That's despite the underlying, if unstated, nature of her politics that all Aborigines should be jailed for breathing.

Australia - fantastic weather, truly nice people, awsome seafood, weird politics.
