Well of course they interviewed her, why wouldn't they? Please don't tell me that was out of the ordinary over there?

They didn't interview her at the track. They interviewed her the next day as a special piece. if the hatred was a real thing I doubt they'd risk ratings by doing something that would apparently be unpopular.

To be fair that's a good example of them laughing at themselves. I think the average Aussie is more able to look at their failure this time round and laugh, than our resident tyrant.

I don't care if we win, lose or draw.

I'm laughing at all the people who get so rabid about some pathetic rivalry.

f*** that for a joke. If some Brit athlete is awesome in a sport I enjoy I want to applaud their performance. Not act like a tool and belittle what they've done in any way.

Well examples of Eric the Eel show that's not always the case, but of course most of them are among the best in their country, which is a great achievement.

But he stole the show from the superstars even if for a brief moment.

Same as the great man Eddie the Eagle.

Are people here suggesting that most Aussies hate the British? I haven't seen that posted, of course most Aussies don't. The crowds at events in Australia probably aren't as sporting as they are over here, but that's not a surprise, British crowds are well known for being very sporting.

I don't know what comment you're referring to there.

Sally Pearson looked good again this morning.

Pretty much nailed on to DOUBLE the Aussie gold tally. (especially with her closest rival crashing out in the heats).

BREAKING: Doctors in Australia discover "Olympic finger". Said to be caused by repeated scrolling down to see Australia's medal tally

Looks like we're a decent chance to pick up a few golds in the sailing.

Seems all those convicts that arrived by ship have thrown good sailing genes.

Just to put some rationale into this, Australia's problem is it's coaching brain drain. Many of the athletes/teams in international sport have benefited from Australian coaches and subsequently beaten Australian teams. Many of our own cyclists (inc Bradley Wiggins) and rowers (in particular the women) who have won medals beating the Aussies have been coached by.. Australians. Ultimately money talks.

Talking of Australia's sporting greatness, I am celebrating their lack of it today.
About 10 years ago I had a bet with a mate (Scottish) whether England or Australia would get further in the next 3 world cups. England did better, and today he's paying up by taking me, wife and kids out for lunch. I love Australia

You've obviously seen the interview with whoever it was in the Sydney Morning Herald too? Another entry into the 101 excuses book.

An improvement on the rowers who complained the portions of food were too small at their accommodation near Eton, not to mention, the 'unusual crosswinds' they experienced in their races....

They don't all have a massive chip on their shoulders about us.... Great review of the games here -

After a great Games, Bolt is No. 1 and so is London | theage.com.au

I was pleased to see the Aussies pick up a bit... It's a great rivalry, and believe me I'd never want them to finish above us, but they're a great sporting nation and I'd rather they picked up medals than a lot of other countires I could mention.
