Some really tasty match-ups there @Tom Hark Preston Park .

The Sydney, Brisbane (+ the Hawks v Tigers) derbies on Sunday will have some real spice to them I reckon, and St Kilda v Freos could be a great game to watch tomorrow.

Expecting Collingwood to keep their decent run going tbh, and it'll be another tough test for my Blues against the Crows...but we have a bit of momentum and belief going our way atm. Especially with big Harry McKay back in the squad and making his presence felt lately.

What a great weekend of footie ahead! 🏉🪃

* being a relative newbie to the game, I looked up the Richmond Tigers earlier - cant believe how tiny their "home" ground is, right next door to the MCG....!! o_O

Yup, some good viewing there! Particularly happy with Pies start time of half ten on Saturday morning. Very civilised 😊

Absolute crock of bollocks. Playing away to middling Vic sides, we should be at the very least splitting the results somewhat, winning here and there, but in our last three - away to Essendon last season, and away to melbourne and st kilda this - we've lost all three. And have been more than a bit pathetic in each defeat. If you dont win in Melbourne, you just dont contend.
Another season spent doing bugger all of any consequence . . . no finals if you dont win away. Got to question the coach, JL has had six seasons, and we've played finals once. Thats plain and simple not good enough, we have some excellent players and are capable of great things, and we even produce these great things on occasion, but nowhere near regularly enough. No more excuses, shit or get off the pot.

(sadly, we're shit  )

Popped along to Cardinal Newman for an hour on Saturday to watch the Sussex Swans, as they were hosting a mini 9 a side tournament.
Some really good passages of play, in both the mens and women's games, so bodes well for the new season.

I'll pop along at some point and give it a watch, im quietly fascinated by the nine-a-side version - it makes perfect sense with our posts and pitches etc, and its more relatable for all us europeans really - they play it in france etc as well, my mate's daughter is at Uni and her other half is playing it, despite not really knowing much about the sport at all. Love a bit of sporting expansion!

Randomly, they had teams from France & Cambridge Uni there on Saturday.
Home games are usually over at Waterhall I believe - the season schedule is up on their social media pages...

Do they have partnerships in AFL? I don't like a sport without partnerships.
What sort of partnerships? Most AFL team have a lower league team affiliated with them.

baseball=pitcher and catcher

cricket = A partnership in cricket refers to the collaboration between two batters and the runs they accumulate together, including extras. While both batters are involved in a partnership, only one is the striker at any given time.

American football = quarterback and receiver

football/soccer = goalkeeper and backs (defence/defense)

ice hockey = center, left wing & right wing (line)

Ah, well yeah then -
- Centre half forward and Full forward up front, your classic massive bloke/small fella combination (most of the time)
- your two on-ball midfielders - both working in tandem against the other side's onballers, trying to win the ball and make first use off your ruck
- two full backs, taking the ball from the Ump after a point has been scored, and looking to put the ball forward in the most economical way possible

Fascinating to see how Freo bounce back from abject misery last week, it doesnt get much bigger than a live game of an evening against (sadly) the best supported team in the comp. I'm slightly reassured that he pies have rested four of their more influential players cos of the four hour flight, i appreciate that
i'd just like to compete really, and not get embarrassed! is that too much to ask? Pies by 15 points
