Little piece in the Torygraph today....

30 years ago in August, Carlisle beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the old first division, won their next two games and went top of the league.

This week, unless Carlisle win on Saturday they go out of the football league, whilst on Wednesday, Chelsea have a Champions League Semi final to play.

Thought the bit about Dave Kitson was funny. The reading fans were going to turn up tomorrow in orange t shirts and ginger wigs as a tribute, but he isn't impressed "I have spent all of my time going to places like Cardiff and Millwall getting harassed about the colour of my hair to the point where you want to fight back, so the last thing I need is 15,000 people all in ginger wigs, drawing attention to it" he said.

I think there is a bit of a typo - surely 15 not 15,000

I remember it well .... my first girlfriend at Uni was from Carlisle and I remember sitting watching Match of the Day with her regularly during that season with Carlisle flying high ....

I am off there tomorrow to see if they can win what may be their last ever home match in the football league ....
