Thanks. Very thoughtful Dave.
To be truthful, this one doesn't quite hit the spot.
Criteria for my Reggae taste is;
Serious cultural riddims and lyrics.
Live sound system.
Loads of weird noises as per Jah Shaka, Aba Shanti I.
Bass blowing up your speakers, cutting in and out.
Loads of echo and reverb.
Original Reggae riddim must be prevalent (chunka, chunka, chunka).
Extended plays.
False starts and rewinds.

Don't want much do I? It's out there.

Oooh oooh, forgot to mention that on the Friday night before the Southend game as me and the family were strollinjg back to the Travelodge from a day at Adventure Island - who should I see decked out in khaki suits and wheeling big speaker boxes and the likes into a basement at some big pub/hotel at the bottom of Southend high street ?

Not sure of the name of the place, only that it was right at the end of the high street, on the left as you walk up from the seafront and directly opposite that fancy lift they now have that leads down to the prom. I never went to Shrimpers, only heard of it, and have no idea where that was/is in Southend.

I asked the bloke third from the left in that pic if they were clashing with anyone as I saw over his shoulder a tiny flyer in the window but couldn't make out any of the sound names. Anyway, he said - No, it was an unscheduled dance, not the one advertised. Very tempted to pop back out once the kids were all tucked up and re-live my youth until whatever small hour the dance went on 'til. Unfortunately it was the usual story and how I tend to play football these days - the head and heart is there but the body isn't quite up to it. Needless to say I was in the land of travelodge nod before midnight
