Atmosphere?

Will a new season, a new league, new players and a new colour blue make any difference to the lack of atmosphere at the Fortress Withdean?

Its unbelievable the difference between the home support and the away support. anyone care to explain why this is so?

1st game of the season at home and it's an evening game. The atmosphere always seems to be much better at evening games, well pissed off to be missing it :(

Away support for any team is more vocal and more passionate than most home teams.

it has something to do with the more ardent fans who travel away from home and that you make a day of it travel down meet the mates have a drink and get behind the team.

i havent been to many home matches but i love the away atmosphere even when theres only a few hundred.

some home fans come out of the house in the gate and watch the football dont sing shout just sit and watch nothing wrong with that i suppose but i go and shout and sing wherever i watch the Albion.

shirts and new season may have a small part but it is the apathty of cardiff and this is a return of the top after a season not ten like last time.

as we start climbing the league and molango and knight bang those goals in it will change

errr, shit ground, fans all seperated etc etc obvious really.

thats bollocks, i didn't go to reading and think oh this is a nice ground i'll sing up, and most people sat in there allocated seats, so seperation was a factor there too.

I only go to away games, cos its usually easier for me to get to them than down to Brighton and the atmosphere is always good. All the games I have seen at the Withdean (and the last one was against Derby two years ago  ) have also been a good atmosphere but I do prefer the away games.

i always feel the nice sunny games at withdean when we were in the 1st were great!!! whats better than sitting in the sun watching the greatest sport and team play at a high level! so what if the ground is 'shit'. the atmosphere can be electric at times.

The ground does make a massive difference though. We used to get a tremendous racket going out of the North Stand (RIP  ). I remember some away fan writing in to When Saturday Comes to tell all the other fans that if they wanted to experience 'real' support, then they should get themselves down the Goldstone sharpish

The thing is, we know a few away fans can make quite a bit of noise at "the" Withdean - Swindon, for example:

"We are going up, say we are going up"

I meant that the withdean isnt conjucive to creating a good atmosphere with no roof etc, not thats its a shit ground...although we know it is.

The singers always go to the away games also.
And as i say arent spread around the ground so much.

I did!!! It was right behind the goal and near the back, so was fairly prime. I did end up sharing it for most of the second half though 'cos there was more people in the row than there were seats!!

At the foot of the downs
Walk in silence,
Don't walk away, in silence.
See the danger,
Always danger,
Endless talking,
Life rebuilding,
Don't walk away.

Walk in silence,
Don't turn away, in silence.
Your confusion,
My illusion,
Worn like a mask of self-hate,
Confronts and then dies.
Don't walk away.

People like you find it easy,
Naked to see,
Walking on air.
Hunting by the rivers,
Through the streets,
Every corner abandoned too soon,
Set down with due care.
Don't walk away in silence,
Don't walk away.

:dunce:

I love a party with a happy atmosphere.

(Isn't it a travesty that Russ Abbott didn't do more in the world of pop?)

After the paly off semi second legs atmosphere, everone stood up singing through the game and making the night memorable I find it amazing how quiet it is when it revertsa back to normal league games.

That swindon game was such an amazing atmosphere and its such a shame we don't get anywhere near that on normal home games.

Do you think we should get a drummer in the ground?
