A mildly alarming revelation, that.
My money would be it ended on a "don't even bother" from Gus. I genuinely believe he is a man with a mission, a project at the Albion, and he is not going to ditch that lightly. I think he has a Martinez-type loyalty in him, a sense that he's started something he hasn't yet finished.
I know LOYALTY is such a rare commodity in this game, and perhaps I am being hopelessly naive, but I really do feel we have that with Gus. I would be utterly crushed like never before if he disproved that, but I don't think he will.
And I have an inkling that Gus is made of the same stuff.
I have to agree with the sentiments above. Easy I agree it is a concern, but I remain confident that much like martinez, gus believes he is unfinished here and has probably sat down done the good old 'pro's and cons' on a piece of paper and it has showed him that staying with a club that has no debt, full managerial control, little press intrusion (allows him to make a mistake or two as he learns managment) and a squad he has molded in his vision.
There is obviously a very attractive pull towards a club like villa but I honestly believe that gus and tony sing of the same song sheet and know there is a very real posibility that we could be challenging for playoffs next season. So the question I think gus has answered is 'stick with a club that can play my football or start again'. The answer is stick.
Better stuff I hope. Martinez bailed out of Swansea.
I have never loved another man as much as I love Gus.
No, he didn't.
Didn't even bother going for the interview. He wasn't interested - I think thats fairly heroic, and certainly refreshing. I always thought well of him beforehand, but that just raised my opinion of him further. And I have an inkling that Gus is made of the same stuff.
I assumed Hughes had been tapped up when he left Fulham, and I've seen nothing to suggest that wasn't the case.the consensus seemed to be that the whole Martinez thing was a smokescreen, as they did indeed tap up Hughes and he will become their manager
I too am worried about losing Gus (not this summer). I'm having a mini crisis, I feel we can't win - we'll either be rubbish in the championship, or if we do well, decent teams will be after him and we'll lose out.you're not kidding Easy. I can handle losing any player, Bennett included, with such a brilliant manager. But losing Gus the kingpin of everything, It scares the pants off me, I cannot contemplate it

I feel like I'm going out with Claudia Schiffer. Its just so utterly BRILLIANT it feels like its simply too good to be true, and every minute I keep thinking she's going to ditch me for Richard Gere.
I have never loved another Albion manager...another man as much as I love Gus. I just cannot imagine life without him now.
Scary innit.
Anyone remember the Seagulls Over London meeting, where Gus said that he would never APPLY for a manager's job? If they want him that badly, they will simply offer him the job, with no-one else in contention. He clearly wants to move on eventually, but he wants to go to a club that respects him as much as he respects them. That, I suspect, will be a very short list.

EDIT - I see he's currently 4-1, perhaps I've got this spectacularly wrong![]()
