You can throw, Pornography, Seventeen Seconds and Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me in there as well

I think we could (and suspect we have) have a whole thread debating the best Cure album.

I'll throw Elvis Costello's hat into the ring.

This Year's Model, then Armed Forces, then Imperial Bedroom.

'Live At The Witch Trials' was The Fall setting their astounding stall out. So many albums, crises and personnel changes later, 'Reformation Post TLC' just edges it for me.

Have you read 'The Fallen'? The book in which a journalist tracks down and interviews every former member of The Fall?

Splendid stuff.

Blimey that must be one thick book!

Cheers El Presidente will have to track that one down. Have you read 'Renegade', the same tales told from Mark E smith's side? Tremendous stuff. As was the interview session between the author of the book and MES at the Old Courthouse at the Brighton festival a couple of years back. Quite a few NSC'ers in attendance that day if memory serves.

EDIT: Just took a look on amazon, loving the front cover 'Now with added ex-members!' :lolol:

"Mike, your debut album Original Pirate Material is being described as one of the best albums of the decade, it's a masterpiece. People love it. How are you ever going to top that?"

"Well, for my 2nd album I'm going to tell a story. It'll be one of, if not the best example of Hip-Hopera ever and we're going to spawn three Top 10 singles including a number one. I'm going to produce all the beats too, because I can and I'm going to do all of it in my flat with no big name features or help because why the f*ck not? I'm going to call it... A Grand Don't Come For Free

What a ****ing album that is. Not actually an album, a story that just happens to contain some bloody great tunes. I love it.

For this discussion though, for me, unfortunately for A Grand Don't Come For Free OPM was just too good.

I couldn't bond with Grand because OPM blew my head off my shoulders.
I remember buying it in Our Price, Worthing, on a sunny day, I was parked behind TK Max.
Straight from the intro I was completely hooked I had to just drive around for 50 minutes, as I couldn't stop listening.
Finally when I got home, the first thing I did was 'properly' listen, that was then followed by a prolonged period of "you've got to listen to this".

I'm listening to it right now.

We all have albums that come with that kind of memory from, in my case, 14 years earlier.
I very much doubt people have that kind of visceral reaction to different albums from the same musicians.

Very very good call. It wasn't seen as masterpiece at the time though; Paul's Boutique has had quite an interesting journey in the history books. I'm going to dig it out for a spin right now.
