"5:31pm

Ben James tells us the man has been led out of the Sainsbury's side of the block of flats.

The southbound Lewes Road is now reopened, but the northbound remains closed.

Ben added that the man in handcuffs appeared to be quite grumpy.
"

I suppose he would!

Road closures around the Lewes Road gyratory system in Brighton are expected to ease on Monday (April 7) as police have secured a man who was reported to have a gun in the area.

Armed police were called at 2.17pm. The man went into a nearby house and police sealed off the building, which resulted in a number of local roads being closed, causing traffic disruption in the area.

Detective Superintendent Steve Black said: "We are aware that this operation is causing significant disruption, but it is essential that the cordon and road closures are in place to ensure the safety of people living and working locally and everyone involved.

"I would like to thank everyone for their co-operation. We are bringing the incident to a safe conclusion, but it will be necessary to remain in the area for some time. However, we are now lifting some of the restrictions."

just updated- someone arrested now.

A 34-year-old man from Brighton has been arrested on suspicion of an offence under Section 16A of the Firearms Act after a Brighton city centre junction was brought to a standstill following a report of a man with a gun.

Armed police responded to the report at 2.17pm when the man was seen near the Sainsbury's supermarket on the Lewes Road gyratory system. He went into a nearby house in Lewes Road, which was surrounded and then entered by armed officers.

The man was secured at 5.15pm and was then arrested. He remained in custody on Monday evening, while specialist police search officers searched the property.

No shots were fired and nobody was injured in the incident.

Detective Superintendent Steve Black, who led the operation, said: "I would like to thank everyone for their patience and co-operation while this sensitive incident was brought to a safe conclusion. I am aware that there was significant disruption, but it was essential to close off the immediate area to ensure the safety of everyone living and working locally, as well as those seeking to resolve it."

All sparked by someone seeing Tim enter the building with an Argus notepad and crayon.

Is he still using the fat ones that you can grip in the fist ?

Snide comment to someone who has tried to give information to NSC or have I got that wrong?

No. You're right. Sorry. Been a long day, & I spend a lot of my time at work dealing with rubberneckers, gossipers & speculators. It can be immensely frustrating when you're trying to do a job, but, yes, I know, it's just human nature.

So consider it retracted. Sorry Wrong Direction.

I shall get some dinner now & snap out of it (maybe a Joan Collins style Snickers?) :)

One of the 'many' reasons I left the job.....made me miserable as hell and snappy at people around me after days like that.

And unfortunately the days that arn't like that..... are few and far between now!

Did Anna Roberts do any reporting? Or had Tim sent her off to reports of some fluff being inserted in to a gerbil cage in Pagham?
