Albion chairman Dick Knight today confirmed rumours of a takeover of the club by a consortium of flambouyant showbiz stars. The consortium has been in talks with Knight since the start of this season and are believed to be in the final stages of a takeover.
An source close to the group said today "The rumours of a 'backdoor takeover' are true and the group are determined to make a fist of the fight for the clubs survival."
The group, said to include outragous TV presenter Graham Norton and leather skinned lothario Dale Winton became interested in the club after watching an interview with Albion hardman Guy Butters, in which the defender claimed to be dissapointed by the clash of the first match of the season with the Brighton Pride Event.
Talks stalled before Christmas when Knight alegedly gave out misleading information to the prospective new owners. A source close to the group said "Neither Norton or Winton were prepared to swallow Dick's lies anymore and considered withdrawing their substancial backing.
