Brighton and Hove Albion football fan forum North Stand Chat was taken offline today in an apparent protest against Argus journalist Andy Naylor.
A message on the site greeted visitors making reference to Argus Albion reporter Andy, who is currently in Portugal with Albion on their pre-season tour, and an article he wrote in today's paper.
It read: "NSC has been closed, permanently, as it is a destructive force delivering only negative bad stuff to Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club.
Thanks to Saint Andy of Burslem for showing us the error of our evil, evil ways.
"If you are one of the moaners, can we respectfully suggest you get yourself along to a place of worship as soon as is practical and ask for forgiveness. You know that "Forgive me father for I have sinned..." sort of thing that you've probably seen in movies and 80s sketch shows.
"Or, as suggested elsewhere, take a 'chill pill' (other medications are available)."
In his regular Talkback column in today's paper, Andy criticised "internet moaners" for their comments about the first game at The Amex Stadium.
He wrote: "Take a chill pill guys. You could still be at Withdean, jeering the passing style of play which delivered Championship football, as I seem to recall happening against Bournemouth last season."
Regular contributors to North Stand Chat were left confused about the site's temporary closure.
Posting on the site's Facebook page, one fan said: "What a shame that you had to shut down because of the some stupid people on." (SIC)
Others criticised Andy for his stance while some believed he was right.
Johnny Dee posted: "Some people actually agree with Naylor. Here's a message to him on Twitter: "well done on the chill pill article. needed to be said. You have done the world of albion supporting a favour" (SIC)
Despite initially telling visitors it was down permanently, North Stand Chat's manager Darren McKay, under his username Bozza, later posted: "I pressed the wrong button a short while ago.
"I don't imagine anyone noticed, but apologies for any inconvenience it may have caused.
"As you were."
The Argus has emailed Mr McKay for comment and is awaiting a reply.
