I'm not religious and don't like to be hypocritical, hence I'm not a Christmassy type of person.
That said, I am a New Years type of person and celebrate this with gusto.
My kids think that they get Christmas presents, but they are actually getting New Year presents a week early.

No. Trouble I find is by the time Xmas day comes around I'm totally fed up with it.

No, Crimbo is still a long way off but I am already under pressure to get the tree down from the loft.

Bought two tins of Roses. Eaten them both.

Thanks to the annual shrink, this is becoming easier and easier now days....in my day they were Kilo tins.

I'm off to Berlin tomorrow so I imagine the spirit will start then. Drinking and Christmas markets galore.

No. We had our work Christmas party yesterday. It was very average and didn't feel remotely festive. I am going to Lapland tomorrow with my 5 year old, so I do need to start feeling Christmassy, just for his sake!

Twas at my post-coma record low of a "mere" 16 days off sick this year, until a devious flu invaded my system last weekend and has had me back up in the low 20s, day-off-wise, so that to me says of the beginnings of winter and Christmas just around the corner. The positives of this maladious week have been in getting my TiVo levels down to 93%, meaning that i have room to record over Christmas whilst away, also putting in my mind happy seasonal thoughts over the Christmas Radio Times and me marking my selections with a luminous marker stolen from work. Rejoice! wheezily.

Too much religion creeping into Xmas nowadays for my liking :xmas:

Of course you mean too much religion creeping into your winter festival celebration. Call it what it truly is. Worship of father chris............no, shopping, present giving, over indulgence of alcohol and partying, eating and traveling. Singing carols with no religious base, i.e. "Frosty the snowman."

Religious people complain about the commercialisation of Christmas but conversely it was a "winter festival celebration" long before the Christians nicked it.

I think it's good that it has less and less to do with religion and more to do with having fun.
