Review of Season 2004-2005 so far:

Played 7
Won 2
Drawn 1
Lost 4
Goals For 6
Goals Against 11

Current Form: WW

Out of League Cup.

Manager: Mark McGhee stable, although October is next month and not a good one for Albion managers. I believe MM is a very shrewd manager and that he intends to complete his contract and maybe extend?

Players: Horrendous injury situation with up to 10 potential 1st teamers sidelined. McPhee Carpenter and Roger pencilled in for today's friendly at Worthing. Watson Oatway Roberts Reid Piercy still to regain fitness. Blackwell who knows?

Can life get any better? I see McGhee is now saying that McPhee could be the big target man that he's been seeking for a while. I'm sure we could do with strengthening up front. But midfield still seems to be a problem. I couldn't help but admire Danny Tiatto in the Leicester game and just one player like him could be the difference this season. All in all though I feel positive about this season. Discuss.

Agreed. We have got a good enough side and manager to stay up provided the belief is held by the players. I know I'll get shot down for this but I personally feel Charlie is the missing link in midfield as he's the one that hassles the opposition most and works hardest to regain posession. Not saying he's the ultimate player but having either him or Chippy in the side makes a huge difference.

Agree sometimes you want someone for the work they put in and thier determination. Yes Charlie is not the worlds best player but he always gives 100% and that does rub off on the other players.

I agree that Charlie gives his all but IMHO our midfield has looked better without him. I've no doubt, however, that Chippy's return will be an asset.

I've said before, if Hammond & Nicholas don't keep their places at Watford I'll be disappointed. We've won two games this season & on both occasion they were the midfield pairing. Chippy will be an asset, but seeing as these two are playing well, it's a good opportunity to ease Chippy back in the side. We are not as desperate as we were a week ago

I don't think that we are OK. We have had a massive boost but we are still one of the weakest teams in this division although, maybe, we have the team with the biggest hearts. I would love to think we are going to hang around in mid table but I fear we will be close to or in the shake up for relegation.

Albion don't do mid table, you should know that by now :)

Danny Tiatto is a dirty player and is likely to be suspended from at least half a dozen games this season. Is he really any better than Oatway? :jester:

I think our midfield is pretty sound now to be perfectly honest, the youngsters have come in and done a grand job and with Chippy on his way back it can only get better.

Tiatto is a dirty little shit who, although he may have created a bit for Leicester, was pretty ineffective throughout Monday's game.

He wanted the ball.
He got the ball.
He went seeking the ball.
He distributed the ball mostly to one of his players.

Enough said....................!!!

are we okay ?

things look better than they did this time last week, but it is early days, and you could bet GG's bottom dollar we will be in the mix on the last day of the season. Hold onto your hat - it's going to be a bumpy ride.

agreed that hammond and nicolas should keep their places for now, but chippy should take hammonds place in the long run. with chippy and rodger back on the left i think our midfield is looking ok again. defence dont look too bad either but we still need a target man with leon.

I would also stick with Nicolas and Hammond at Watford, and keep Chippy on the bench for this one... Chippy will replace Hammond in good time, but I would definitely extend Hammonds' contract at least until the end of this season... he has looked good in all the games he has played for the first team, IMHO...

As for Oatway, I would place him firmly on the bench when he regains fitness... use sparingly and with extreme caution!... he will consistently lose possession, and you just can't afford to do that in this league... end of...
