..rather than start the season with just a trialist and a loan player up front ?

I can't believe we are 12 days from the start of the season without more depth up front.

McPhee only scores in the pre season friendlies because we are playing teams at his level, ie non-league - saying that even he looked poor at Barnet.

Assuming SC does indeed bring in one more forward before the start, who would you think he might (realistically) be able to get.......

Without more attacking options I can't see better than mid-table.

Agree with first post... where is the experience in our front line?...

our top 2 goal scorers from last season are no longer with us, so you do have to wonder where the goals are coming from and also how long before we score a goal in the league?

It's getting a bit close, but then again we didn't sign Zamora until about 5 days before the start of the season.

I doubt very much whether we will sign a permanent, proven striker before the new season starts. Let's face it, the club is probably on its knees financially with the cash sponge that is Falmer.

Mid table obscurity is the best we can hope for this season but we're undoubtedly still better off than many of the smaller clubs, hard as it may be to believe.

We're saving big time on the wages front.

Bobby, Barrett and Kitson leave, Knight comes in, so I would have thought we should be able to afford to wages of a half-decent free transfer. Even Rougier is beginning to look tempting...

I have been saying it for a long time now what about the three that Pompey have who are all better than we have to call on other than Leon Knight i.e Lee Bradbury. Mark Burchill and Luke Nightingale. I am sure that they would be better than McPhee and Marney although it would be nice to have them as back up in case of injuries or suspensions.
