Are the trains really that bad ?

In my opinion I think they do an amazing job. Yes they can be a bit squashed at times, but anybody remember what it was like getting a train at Hove station when we were at the Goldstone ? Today I left at the final whistle, had a pint at Brighton station and was on the 10:33 to Worthing. Was at home by 11 something. Whole thong is well organized in my opinion !

I agree, a world of difference from the old days (and thanks for the additional "insider" info on the size and state of your underwear too)

I find it very hard to believe that you were waiting at the station for 45 minutes having left after the final whistle given that there were no queues there whatsoever at 10.20!

You'd be right. I was queueing for the bus.

I leave dead on the final whistle and jog down to the station. Always get a train to Brighton in time to catch the 22.19, change at East Croydon and get the train to West Hampstead, gets in at 23.40. Pretty easy really.

Similar tactics but get the 21.49 and was in Kingston at 22.50 last night!

Ah, sorry chap.

No probs at all mate!

In fact I may well try the trains agaib if they cleared that quickly, as I was still waiting to get on the bus at 1040!

No complaints about the trains from me. Stopped for a cuppa in WSU, then queued for about 10 mins. That's fine in my view.

I waited for the 10.27 as it stops at London Road but could easily have got the one before that.

On that note, without being too up-PC, why do people who have a walking stick or are in a wheelchair have priority over everyone else?

For safety reasons as much as anything else, If you ever have the misfortune of having to use sticks or a wheelchair in amongst a rushing crowd you'll soon find out why it's a good idea. It's also better to have one designated coach for disabled / infirm as again it's not only safer but the ramp is only needed in one place.

Myself personally have only had 1 experience at the Amex and I had none of the issues often moaned about on here. Got my Harveys, Got my Steal n Ale pie (fantastic), and then after a quick pint at the end of the match (Watford) only waited 7 mins for the next train. That being said im sure its not perfect every week but from my experience the transportation was excellent.

No complaints here going getting back to Seaford, normally home by 10:50pm on a week night, Saturday by 6:30pm. I think the majority of people 'get it' now that an event attracting 25k people of which 80% use public transport means you're going to have to wait your turn.
