Are people getting a little too touchy on here??

Before i say anything else, yes i am aware that something went on with Bozza and the Police yesterday and i am not suggesting for one minuite that anything that could become further problems should be classed as what i am about to say.

However, what is going on with some people on here at the moment??

Yesterday i made an ironic comment that included the words 'Bat for the other side' in it. I have seen FAR worse go unpunished on here in the past. Someone took offense to it and i recieved some sort of infringment points (whatever the fcuk that means!).

In the thread about the Olympic closing ceremony last night, more than one person made joke about Jessie J being a lesbien, some of the comments included 'she licks the other side of the stamp' Explain how that is less naughty than what i said yesterday? It, and the other comments, went un-punished.

Someone has just made a comment in the Dog Lovers thread that they obviously thought was amusing. It really wasnt and they soon apologised. Now unless someone has actually had their dog put in the oven before, surely it shouldnt cause that much offence?? The comment was removed by a Mod after the person that said it apologised. Bad taste in jokes but surely nobody took it seriously enough to piss their pants and report it to a moderator

Are some people having major sense of humour failures and reporting these type comments, or are the Mods getting power crazy and getting kicks out of controlling other peoples speech??

It's hard to make jokes any more, because someone will always take offensive, usually someone who it doesn't effect, but feels they need to be offended on behalf of someone who probably finds the joke funny.

maybe the person in question may have pm, ed a mod and asked them to remove it after realizing it was ott?

Fair point... No idea why you should have had a warning for your comment TBH.

FWIW I didn't report him to the mods re dog thread although I did take offence. The guy in question has a tendency to get up peoples noses on a regular basis so I'm not surprised that someone did report it/him.

No real issues on here for me so I'll leave it to others to have a proper binfest about it all.

Seems that the line between banter and offence has been somewhat muddied. I think the majority of humour on here is acceptable but disagree when people become offensive and aggressive over people's opinions if they are different to theirs

That is my point. This is an internet forum, how can anyone get offended by things on here said by people they dont know? you could come on here and tell me every day that you have fcuked my mother and it wouldnt offend me because i dont know you from adam and they are just words on a screen.

I can understand the whole libel/legal thing that was brought up yesterday,and for Bozza/NSC's sake i totally agree. But comments offending people? Come on!?

1) A reply to that thread suggests maybe nothing happened (comment from bozza about leaving his computer logged in while on holiday with friends)
2) Potentially libellous, causing legal issues.

Having said number 2, I would argue it wouldn't be harmful to her reputation on two accounts: 1) it's something that's already out there and so perhaps already makes up part of her reputation, 2) It's 2012 and allowing someone to say "people thinking I'm gay/lesbian" is bad for your reputation is giving homophobia refuge in law.
