Reform UK have their first council, I’ve just seen that they have 227,480 members, at 309,000 they will pass the Labour Party Membership and be the UK’s largest Political Party, the Tories better start sorting their shit out fast before they are no longer the party of opposition

Wasn’t Farage found to be making up the membership stats?

Mmm i heard that, however it seems that they invited MSM to scrutinise their numbers and….

Reform invited the Financial Times, Sky News, The Spectator and The Daily Telegraph to inspect their website's front and back-end code and the underlying data of the party's membership numbers. Each media outlet subsequently confirmed the membership ticker to be accurate.

I think it’s refreshing to have an alternative to the old parties and whilst there’s a lot that’s questionable about Reform, Farage’s no nonsense approach is clearly winning the electorate over at the moment!

Given there are not many Labour areas voting on Thursday I suspect you will be disappointed. The narrative is going to be much more Tory vs Reform and Tory vs Lib Dem.
*Ron Howard voice* London Irish was not disappointed

Again - it’s utterly shit that Reform could be the next government but that’s entirely Labour’s fault (specifically Morgan McSweeney and charisma boy Starmer) for draining the hope out of everyone in this country

Another proper villain here - a lobbyist for the arms industry and Israel - if this is what Labour offer people, of course voters are going to desert it in droves

Oh I don't know. If your weird fantasy were ever to come true I wouldn't underestimate your own persistent efforts in it :shootself

What’s weird about it. Obviously the demoralisation created by Labour has fuelled the rise of Reform. Tell us your “non weird” explanation then, we’re all ears

Meanwhile -here’s the undisputed facts:

Labour projected national share of the vote according to Professor Curtice is 20% the lowest Labour performance since 2009 and much worse than all 4 Council Elections under Jeremy Corbyn

Labour are chasing the Reform votes

"Ministers will crack down on international students applying for asylum in the UK in a move designed to tackle migration figures, after a series of bruising losses to Reform in the local elections.

An immigration white paper setting out the proposed reforms in mid-May will include measures to bring down the numbers of UK student visa holders who make asylum claims, the Guardian understands."

Not caused by Labour, but something must be done about the carers allowance trap:

Labour could earn a lot of goodwill by adopting a humane and realistic approach to carers allowance overpayments and fines, and by doing it quickly.

I’m really confused, because when I posted that WFA had a massive bearing on Labour’s drop in popularity, I was unceremoniously shut down by a couple of staunch Labour posters on here, and told it was all a media witch-hunt and WFA in itself made no difference.

The reasoning for this, is that their great aunts twice removed were above the poverty line and didn’t feel they needed it. With the logic being that this specific set of circumstances applies to every single person affected.

I’m really confused, because the Health Secretary (among others on both the front and backbenches) have been critical of the decision.

“Asked about her criticism, Streeting insisted Labour had "done a lot" since regaining office last year, despite being in power less than a year.
But he added the party had "got the message loud and clear" and acknowledged there was "much more to do".
He added: "I'm not going to insult your viewers by pretending that winter fuel didn't come up on the doorstep, of course it did.
"I know that people aren't happy about the winter fuel allowance in lots of cases," he added.
"We did protect it for the poorest pensioners, but there are a lot of people saying they disagree with it regardless".

This is hugely confusing to me Ted, because according to posters here supporting the last minute WFA cut just before winter 2024, absolutely nobody they knew were affected.

It’s almost like some of the hardcore Labour supporters here were lying and trying to defend an incredibly unpopular decision, because “I’m alright Jack”.
