Forgive me if this sounds a bit melodramatic, but how do you all feel about it?...... and can you add any more examples.

In no particular order:

1) Paul Parker..... amazing deflection in the Semi in 1990.

2) Paul gascoine..... another inch or so and the golden goal would have been in against germany , Semi 1996.

3) Bloody hand of God......... 1986.

4) Koeman... should have gone for that foul.... went on the score the winner in that qualifier.

5) Last night....... Sylvestre should have gone???

6) 1982..... never lost a match in 5 games... still went out.

7)

There must be more examples.........

I have been saying exactly the same thing for the past 2 years.

We never, ever seem to get any luck when it comes to vital games in the finals.

That was a goal. No doubt about it. It hit the crossbar, and my friend Andy King says that's on target...

Nah, you remember the ones that go against you and forget your lucky breaks. E.g. David Platt's winner against Belgium in 1990, or the goal Spain had ruled out in the QF of Euro 96.

Add to that list of bad luck, Gordon Banks getting stomach bug before qutr finals in Mexico 70. Up step Peter 'The Cat' Bonnetti and as they say 'You have one bad game, just one' !!!

Luck though, Last minute winner against Greece and Germany failing to beat Finland at home, holding out in Italy in 98 to qualify.

All top countries fail as do clubs from time to time, but they will normally be in with a chance of winning. Reflect on what it would be like internationlly supporting Luxemborg, Estonia, Albania, San Marino or Scotland -never a hope in hell .....
