Are Cox & Robinson one trick ponys?

Coix & robinson both have pace and talent, Forster is s top marksman and bas is so unpredictable and hard to shift off the ball. All in all, we have forwards to scare the life out of most teams in this division.

Sometimes we'll come up against good opposition, carlisle are not top for nothing, and not all are polayers will be on top form every week. Add to that Revell & Elder and we really have a forward line better than we've had for some years.

Defending against these two must be the easiest job in football. Neither of them have any sort of left foot and the opposition now knows it. With Cox they offer him the outside every time, knowing he’ll never take it and, if he does, he won’t deliver. With Robinson they close the outside and offer him inside – again he never takes it. Carlisle had these two worked out from the start and it won’t be long before other teams do too.

Wilkins needs to find a decent winger that has the confidence to take on the fullback and get a cross in. Would Currie fancy a move from Luton?
Cox clearly isn't that easy to defend as he creates and scores so many goals. But his constant cutting back is frustrating, especially as on the evidence I've seen he is fine with his left. He doesn't seem to take people on any more.

Robinson just blows hot and cold. When he plays well no one in this division could live with him, but he doesn't do it enough. Yesterday he was pretty poor.

I agree though that we could do with another winger - preferably someone pacy and left footed (which isn't Currie) who will hit the line and get in crosses.

Enjoyed it ....thanks for your interest :)

So in YOUR game being on the losing side means you're not very good?

You should ask if you can pay half price when you watch the Albion, seeing as it seems you only go to watch one team

I go to watch a team pushing for the division above, and Currie is NOWHERE NEAR good enough to play for The Albion now. He'd be our weakest link, and I'd play OGH ahead of Currie all day long.

dont think it helps that wilkins keeps playing cox on the left hand side. when full backs defend, they will always show the wide man down the line, and the evidence is that cox fancies his right foot much more than his left, resulting in cutting back everytime - which then gives the defence a few extra seconds to organise

This is a load of rubbish. They are two of our most talented players.

Jim D is obviously looking at Currie through rose coloured specs as well.
We did NOT get on the end of his crosses when he played for us, and those into the box were 99% straight into the keeper's arms. "Thanks very much"!

I don't know if you watched the game two weeks back, but he couldn't get past his man then, and apart from set kicks - he's not in any way a tricky winger. Nathan Jones I'd welcome back before Currie, nowadays.

You must have been watching a different game then. Currie put in some awesome crosses from near the bi-line and was probably their most dangerous player.
Jim is spot on. Why do you think Wilkins switched them yesterday. It was not because of the success they were having was it ?

Now be careful because we haven't lost a game for goodness knows how long and some people will get UPSET if there's any complaining.
feeling guilty are we?

i think john ward did his homework yesterday to be fair

coxy does like to cut inside and cross and the full back did his job at stopping this yesterday so when that happens he has got to learn to adapt, when he come on against walsall after being dropped he hit the by line a couple of times to deliver balls but needs to do that more often

I assume you weren't at Cheltenham away then?

No, I wasn't at Cheltenham away but I don't recall him scoring either. If Robinson ever does cut inside then he tries something with the outside of his right foot rather than trust his left. The shot that hit the bar against Orient was one of those, but the problem is that he has to lean back to strike it and so it always goes high.

For this reason alone I think the he is best brought on with 20-30 mins left as he can use his pace against a tiring defence – and then he can cause damage. The Orient game was a prime example.

What's that got to do with anything? He was right midfield, and I thought Jake was brilliant against Cheltenham that day, their left back couldn't deal with him at all.

Do you just not like him? Because I don't see O'Callaghan scoring goals, why don't we have a go at him as well?

I fail to see what Robinson and Cox have done to deserve criticism. All I know is that both of them have played a pivotal role in a fantastic run which has seen us lose just 1 in 14.

Mr Miles, whether I like him or not has nothing to do with it. I say what I see on the pitch and, in my opinion, he and Cox are far too predictable.

Of course he has the occasional good game – but I would also say that most of these are when he comes on after about 60 mins (as he did against Orient). They would both be a lot more effective if they would learn to trust (and use) their left feet – even if they don’t always connect perfectly it would keep the fullbacks guessing. As it is they are much easier to mark than they should be.

they are not one trick ponies, but they are frustrating when they only look for passes to each other when better opportunities to pass are on.

Hartlepool away was the worst example, when we had a 3 on 2 counter attack, Cox had the ball with Robinson marked and Martot was in ACRES of space to his right. Both defenders then went to Robinson and Cox still tried to pass it to him and a glorious chance to scor was lost at the defenders both tackled Robinson

The other annoying thing is when they have a wing each and they always try Hollywood 60 yard crossfield passes instead of sliding the balls in for Forster to run on too.

Cox is the better of the 2 players but they are a bit too close on the pitch and sometimes it spoils great moves when they try to assist each other instead of thinking of their other team mates

Certainly Coxy is very one footed....on saturday the times he had the running of the full back but cut inside to cross.......very frustrating.

having said that no point crossing to Savage is it!!!

It's clear that, if a player stands out, in this team, he is in for more criticism from the brains of NSC.

god i hope we don't go on to win this division the slating the lads would get would be unprecedented. Why do so many albion fans only seem content if things are going wrong. At the start of the season all the talk was of a struggle to avoid relegation now thats gone tits up its slag the players who are working their bollocks off to get out of the division. When was our last defeat ...oh yeah a lucky goal from leeds who are pissing over most yet we more than matched them , get rid of el-abd for that one i say and o'callaghan what a waste of time and space he is could'nt score in a brothel and he got sent off .......terrible is this the sort of player we want!!! Cox & Robinson absolute crap players ,why if these two were not playing then surely we would be sitting top and not forgetting our useless too injury prone striker forster. Christ i can't wait till we are shit again !!
