however, your replacement machine will now have a 90 day warranty.

And as its a replacement, even though its been sold within 30 days of the probable Tiger launch, you'll still have to pay a hundred and twenty quid to get the new OS.

This time yume talking poop!

90 Waranty? Nope! got two years left on the Apple Care can be transferred to the new machine!

Replacement has not been SOLD so why should I expect to have Tiger for free as well? I'll gladly pay £99 for Tiger that's the least I can do....

Ah, you got anally raped out of the what, 500 notes to get 3 year AppleCare on a high-end Powerbook?

When mosy x86 vendors give you a three year warranty as standard

On any other closed OS system, I'd expect to get lifetime OS updates. If you bought a BeBox, you got BeOS Professional updates permanently, well, at least until Be got bought out and the OS cancelled that is. Its not like you can take your MacOS that you've bought off Apple and run it on a machine that Apple didn't sell - it doesn't run on Mac Clones, and the licence actually forbids you from running it on non Apple badged machines.

Also, if you have AppleCare, why the hell would it matter to you that the original base warranty was about to expire?

Currently, as in actually right now, I'm fighting an Apple phone monkey over getting my iBook taken in for a motion senor replacement, as it now thinks its being dropped if you move it even slightly, and hence goes to sleep and locks the hard disk heads

They don't want to replace it. Because, of course, whats one customer with a 999 quid machine in your least profitable division? They only care about the music departments these days.

perhaps if you talked to them instead of "fighting" ...that's all I did...just talk nicely and be NICE - you'll get a lot further....I did:angel:

err ps I took the extended warranty out AFTER the 1 year was up:blush: I just ....err ... talked nicely:angel:

I hate to admit it but as someone who's spent the last 16 years buggering about with various PCs Apples are very reliable far more so than the average PC.

I can also say that the post sales support of many PC vendors is at best, pretty average.

I bought an iPod Shuffle a while ago. When it arrived, I didn't think it was working properly - it stopped in the middle of a song (different one each time) five or six times.

So I phoned Apple (and got through on the first ring, with no "please hold" messages), and they sent me a new one within three days - they didn't even ask me to send the old one back first! I thought it was excellent service - much better than any other company I've dealt with in the UK.

What did it say on the screen?

Oh.
