I M all worked up again having seen the decision I the Bournemouth game now that is a debatable red card ( the straight legged tackle, studs raised.) no comparison to Stephen's tackle at all. The pundits think yellow for Arta was about right!!

It was three minutes after we scored! Never looked like scoring a second? We were on the up, and Boro were beginning to panic. This decision made a HUGE difference to how the game could have panned out.

Quite right. If Stephens had only got a yellow and we still hadn't got that 2nd goal then fine the outcome would have been fair and square, but now there is going to be always that nagging doubt that Mike Dean cost us the chance of going up.

tv replays show that he had his yellow out until he saw the gash on ramirez's leg......when the Albion players were remonstrating after the red has been given mr dean repeatedly points at the players leg saying " look at his leg , look at his leg , look at his leg , look at his leg , look at his leg , look at his leg" with that petulant , self important pout that he is famous for......clearly from the tv footage he was going to book stephens until ramirez showed him his gash...he then changed his mind.....that is not a correct action by the ref.....by all rights the card should be over-turned.

I wonder what Stephens was saying to Mike Dean before he walked? It didn't look like he was just swearing non stop at him. Maybe warned him that when he watches the replay he would then see he had made the biggest £170m mistake of his life?

blades are notorious for causing flesh wounds and shouldn't make any difference to any decision.
The reason Ramirez got injured was because his tackle on Stephens was too late and he kicked his foot, Stephens had won the ball
Too many times people get penalized for this especially when defenders clear the ball with a long punt upfield and the opponent tries to block the clearance and the kickers follow through hits the blocking foot

Agree with most views on this, wasn't even a foul imho, but don't forget that their goalscorer should have been flagged offside before he stuck the ball in the net. Two wrong decisions in such an important game. I think we have a right to keep banging on about it
