True, but if you were a terrorist planning (lets say) to attack an aircraft, would you choose the most high profile date in the calendar when security is likely to be at its maximum level?

These people don't care about anniversaries, only about causing as much hurt and destruction as possible, whenever and wherever they can. They certainly don't want to get caught going through an airport x-ray machine because some guard is feeling more vigilant than usual due to the date.

I don't think people do act any more security concious on 9/11 to be honest. As you say, most people actually don't believe anything will happen because security is tighter - which it isn't.

Saying that, you can't shut yourself away every 9/11. That way they win

There's absolutely no justification for being extra vigilant on the anniversary of a terrorist attack. If such extra vigilance were to take place then that would explain why the events of two years ago were allowed to happen in the first place. It's outrageous enough that lives were allowed to be lost but to only bolster security on the anniversary would be inexcusable.

George Bush's first words to the American people on 9/11 should have been sincere apologies for a failing to protect his people. Instead of which he started throwing his weight around and saying that "these folks" would be hunted down. Well, we haven't seen Osama's body yet, have we George? If people want to feel any kind of emotion about 9/11 it should be anger that civilian lives were allowed to be put at risk in the first place.
