Went to AFC Wimbledon yesterday (couldn't afford to travel to Plymouth) and saw something that I'd never seen before.
The match sponsors, when picking the man of the match, picked a Wimbledon player and then picked an opposition player as well (the Greenford goalie who had played a blinder). Has anyone ever seen this? Or is this something that's more common in non-league football (from what I heard it's not common at Wimbledon)?
It was a great gesture anyway and their goalie got a a fantastic reception from the home fans. Wimbeldon won 3-0, it would have been a cricket score without the keeper.
BTW, it was a great afternoon out and something tells me that it won't be the last time I go to see the Wombles. Fantastic atmosphere and some good football.
