It was in the Argus. I thought I remembered it being found in Stanmer though....
You're correct Yorkie baby. It was the hedgehog fungus found in Stamner Park.

I can see Cuttress now, scouring the site looking for rare fungus, molds and spores.

"Your honour this development must not proceed as I have recently discovered this rare fungus growing near a couple of trees. It's quite rubbery and has a distinctive protrusion near the top with an interesting open base. It also features a number of fascinating ridges along the length of the spore."
"May I point out to the witness that the exibit appears to be a condom. Mates I believe, ribbed for extra pleasure."

O/T How did your swim go, I missed the thread presumably. The salt water might have helped....

Went well. 140 idiots running into the Solent. Water temp was allegedly 6 degrees, wind chill knocked it down a bit further. Some people were definitely unprepared for the shock of cold water immersion, and seemed surprised that the slipway had a drop off at the end! The ones that fell off the end went straight under, getting plenty of cold water inside them at the same time - one or two had to be yanked out a bit sharpish. Swam around until they had cleared the casualties from the water, then we got out. It was cold (and I am fairly used to cold water immersion) - I remember thinking it was odd that the water was salty, so it must have hit me quite hard! Back again next year, but the next fund raiser is a 32 mile round-the-harbour bike ride in June (ish).

Raised £500, so well chuffed - and thanks to all that donated.

Anybody got access to a small crop-spraying plane? Perhaps a couple of passes over the proposed site just to make sure there is nothing "interesting" growing there would be useful.

I will be out with a flamethrower next weekend to make sure that the wildlife is encouraged to relocate.

Why a plane? Couldn't we just send 1066 there to talk to the plants/fungi/whatever. That'll kill off anything.

Yes - but we don't want to be accused of inhumane treatment.
