Or surrounding area?

I think I have sorted out a job in derby and was wondering if anyone knew of nice areas near there?

Nice areas? East Midlands? You are joking aren't you? :lolol:

Actually when we stayed up in Derby after playing them we found a lovely little village with a couple of very nice pubs just outside town. Can't remember what it was called though. Derby itself, along with Leicester is horrible though.

The area around Chesterfield on the South Yorks border is very nice, not sure if thats too far to commute though. It's also a bit of a trek to any decent nightlife as well.

Go and live in South Notts/Derbys border area (not Ilkeston, Ripley/Heanor though). Or live in Nottingham and commute. Derby is a shithole.

Ashby de la Zouch is a nice little town, about 20 minutes away from Derby, same with Coleorton and the little towns in the surrounding areas, but avoid Coalville at all costs.

avoid Egginton - due to some historical legal reason (can't find out exactly why) no alocohol is allowed to be sold in the village!!!!!!

Lots of lovely villages in the Derbyshire Peak Distict.

Not sure about commuting distances, but my favourites are Grindleford and Hathersage.

I don't live there, mind you, just visit a lot (including next weekend).

Hathersage is indeed very lovely. In fact the peak district is the only place I've ever been which is more beautiful then its postcards suggest. I was completely blown away by it all.

Not really sure about Derby itself, cos only been there for the footy, but the Peak District is stunning. The missus comes from Chesterfield, so we're often up there visiting the in-laws. Very nice part of the world it is, too. Matlock, Chatsworth etc etc

Live between Ashby-De-La-Zouch and Swadlincote - not a bad place to live - Derby only 20 mins from here - plus close to M42
