Just because I'm bored today I did this little search for you and found this forum where someone is complaining of the same problme you have I think? She says its an Intessa and then says its a rebadged Ariston - like yours - sounds like a common problem!

I was concur with what JB and GNLF said, so you can donate £10 to my fav charity as well.

If this keeps up, it would have been cheaper just calling out a heating engineer. :lolol:

Alternatively maybe its supposed to?:

Q - Why does the microGENUS boiler fire up when no water or heating is requested?

A - There is a facility on the microGENUS boiler to keep the hot water heat exchanger warm while the boiler is off so that hot water will be at the tap within 5 seconds this is activated by an ‘Economy/Comfort’ switch. When in the ‘Comfort’ position the boiler may fire up for a very short period from time to time in order to maintain the standby temperature within the heat exchanger.

You'll be a fully qualified CORGI plumber gasperson by the end of today.

It seems to have settled down now. Its gone on once in the last 1 hour.

May be this is what it is supposed to do.

What would happen if decided to raise the pressure to 4 bar would the joints burst :nono:

Adrian29uk forgive me if you may know this already, but a thermostat turns the boiler on when it drops to a certain temperature, and turns it off when the air reaches the desired temperature set by the thermostat. So it will turn on and off. It seems you now have a fully functioning boiler. If it seems too cold for you then riase the temperature setting on the thermostat.

Mrs Foot is thermostat dyslexic and keeps moaning that the radiators keeps turning off. So she turns it up to about 30 bloody degrees.
